CAMEL Folding Pocket Knife

Very well made pocket knife. No noticeable blade play forward back or left and right. The flip is a little hard to engage as someone that lifts, but also hasn't used a lot of pocket knives. Blade is easy to operate with one hand. Blade is very sharp from the factory. Color styles are very nice to look at. Feels good in the hand. I don't have the capacity to check edge retention or durability, but they claim d2 steel so it should be relatively easy to sharpen.

3 star knife -- 4 star at this price. Typical example of good quality asian manufacturing. D2 blade is great, PVD/Ti coating is nice, and sharpness out of box is high. Knife is a noticeably heavier than need be and carries a good deal of that weight in the body. Liners are thicker/heavier than need be and, personally, I'd prefer a bit less bulk in the scales. But note that the D2 blade is a robust design -- reminiscent of the famed ZT0777, or those of you looking at this knife may be more familiar with Kershaw Natrix -- so it accommodates a bit more handle weight to balance the blade. It opens easily with the flipper tab, not so much with the thumb hole. Similarly it closes easily with the liner button, not quite as easily using your thumb to manipulate the liner lock directly. Not a problem, but its a tad bit low profile -- presumably because they want you to use the button. It rides near full depth in the pocket with ~3/16" stick-out. The black/gold color combination is nice enough I'm interested in checking out a couple of the other combinations.This style knife makes a great EDC. It is large enough, and the blade is robust enough, for real work. It makes short work of your daily Amazon delivery and won't quickly go dull in the process. If they had a partially serrated version, and it lost a bit of body weight, this would be a near perfect EDC. I prefer folders <$50 for my EDCs as they get used and abused and I don't want to cringe and think twice every time I use it hard (I'm looking at you, Benchmade).In terms of minor shortcomings:- The action out of the box is a bit sandy. It loosens fairly quickly and I expect will fully free up with a bit of cleansing, oiling, and use.- The thumb hole is too low-profile so it can't be opened just with your thumb. You must use your thumb and index finger to get purchase. Not really a problem as the flipper tab works well. But for those of us who cut our teeth on Spyderco, its an unnecessary annoyance.- You can also depress the liner button and flip the blade open easily -- unfortunately too easily. See next point...- The action is a bit loose. Even with the initial roughness in the action, the blade opens and closes a bit too easily. Enough that, with a very high level of experience, I found I had to be careful to retain control of the blade. With the liner button depressed, you lose all feel and the blade flops freely.- As stated, this is a good knife at this price, but it could really use a bit of re-design (on their part) or customization (on your part) to reduce the liner bulk/weight and add a spring washer to provide more consistent control through all open/close actions. As it is, I suspect more than a few new users may find the blade closing on a knuckle during their familiarization period.

The grip of the handle fits perfectly in my hand and I love the multiple grip options.The blade is 3mm thick on mine, and the jimping is a little soft for my liking ( meaning i like a grippy jimp). Mine came centered with no blade warp which ive seen in other reviews. It came super sharp from the factory with an awesome pocket clip that doesn't snag on my pants. I love the blade shape ( i guess they're calling it a goats hoof? Lol). It's the perfect EDC knife and for around 40$ its a no brainer. I've seen knives at this level of quality sell for 3-5 times the price. If you're thinking about buying it just go for it i highly recommend. 👍Update: I ordered some new bearings and when I disassembled the knife there was lube all over the inside of the scales and none on the bearings. Kind of weird but still a great knife.The only thing I could complain about is the logo on mine doesn't line up right, the captive pivot doesn't stay in place.

The description states that the grip is green, but it is actually black. That said, this knife is AWESOME! It looks even better in hand than it does in pictures. The action is perfect, and the button liner lock is superb. The knife came razor sharp. I only own about half a dozen pocket knives, all priced under $100, and the Remette Camel is by far the best knife in my collection.

This may be the perfect EDC knife. The quality is great; it came very sharp; it functions beautifully. This is my favorite blade shape and the handle material gives me just the right amount of grip. And the knife looks great, with the gold blade and black handles. The flipper and button lock work flawlessly. The price is right, especially if you find it on sale. I found it for $38.

What a great EDC knife. Comfortable handle shape, great size, excellent construction with outstanding fit and finish, probably the best value-for-performance blade steel currently on the market (D2) rated at respectable hardness (59-61 HRC). Edge out of the box is top notch, blade has a very useful choil and an attractive shape. Flipper deployment presents zero surprises, blade hole deployment is perhaps not the most comfortable either with the thumb or reverse flicked, but it is reliably achieved. This one has an actual button-operated liner lock, dissimilar to the Spyderco Compression-style lock with a button that's often referred to as a "top liner lock." The lock on the Camel has no tab that engages between the blade and the stop pin; the lock functions exactly like common liner lock (and can even be operated like one), but has a button above the pivot on the left side of the frame to disengage the lock. This is definitely safer for left handers! If there are any cons to this knife, it's that it's a little on the heavy side, and the handle width is ample. Not terribly so, but enough to be noticeable if you own any other recently-manufactured EDC folders around this blade length. Even these things just make the knife feel super stocky and solid. Like it won't let you down. I really like this thing. For the money, it's going to be pretty difficult to beat, in my opinion.

Great budget knife from Remette. In the same line as the Rhino. Good action, easily get to the thumb holes, good jimping on blade, and flipper, for good deployment. Beautiful rose gold PVD coated D2 blade, so that takes the guessing work out. It makes it 100% corrosive. With the good feature of D2, good edge retention with the HRC @ 60-61, and plenty tough enough. Comes out the box with an exceptional edge, so it will cut for days without losing its edge. With the button liner lock feature, gives the best of both worlds. Double the strength of a regular plunge lock, and the basic liner lock. Hive you two strong points of contact. The ergonomics are really good, and the finger choil gives you real control of the knife. If you have the Rhino you’ll love the Camel, which is exclusive to Amazon only. Great buy, super good knife at the price point. Highly recommend.
