I installed this Lumary Smart Gimbal Recessed Light to address a tricky angled ceiling, and it exceeded my expectations. The 40° tilt and directional design make it effortless to point the light exactly where I need it without harsh glare or awkward shadowing. The 9W output is surprisingly bright at 810 lumens, and the CRI 90+ rating makes colors in the room pop naturally. Pairing it with the Lumary app and connecting to Alexa took under two minutes. Whether I want crisp, cool white light for working or warm RGB tones for relaxation, switching scenes via voice control is seamless. Highly recommended if you need functional, directional smart lighting!

Overall, I am pleased with these. I installed 7 of them in a dark themed bourbon room. I did expect the lowest dimmer setting to produce much less light than they do. Even at 1%, I wish they would go dimmer for night time. A tip if you are installing them in series, which I imagine most will be. Stop after each light amd go ahead and pair it to get it programmed. I installed 3 in a row and then tried to pair, and it would only pair the first light in the run.

I have been a fan of Lumary, as they have done more than almost any other company to make smart LED lighting affordable, disrupting the outrageous pricing once held by brands like Hue and LifX.The light itself performs well. I would have preferred the single-axis gimbal design some other Lumary 4-inch gimbal lights have because it provides a broader range of motion compared to this light's standard two-point, axle-like rotation. But this light also costs less. Installation is straightforward thanks to the canless design. You simply wire the junction box, tuck it up into the ceiling cavity, and pop the light into the circular cutout using the provided template. On the software side, Lumary's proprietary app is full-featured, reliable, and integrates easily with both Google Home and Alexa.Despite its quality, the value proposition is tough to justify for a single unit. If you do not require RGB colors or Wi-Fi control, you can purchase a four-pack of standard gimbal lights with five adjustable CCT settings forjust about the price of this solo fixture. Furthermore, there is a highly rated four-pack of competing smart Wi-Fi RGB gimbal lights available on Amazonfor just $89. While I hesitate to recommend against a Lumary product, if your project requires more than a single fixture, there are significantly better bargains available, including Lumary's own multi-packs.
It’s works good and looks good just a little steep on the price.
I do have several other Lumary lights in my home and they’ve been consistently great, so I felt comfortable picking this one up, and it looks just as well made as the othersOne of the biggest highlights with Lumary is the app. It’s very easy to use and makes controlling brightness, color, and scheduling super simple. I love being able to adjust everything from my phone for hands free control. The light itself is bright for its size and I like that it offers both full color and warm/cool white options, so it can be functional or more of a mood light depending on what you need. The adjustable gimbal design is also a nice touch if you want to angle the light toward a specific area.Based on my experience with this brand, setup is straightforward as long as you’re on a 2.4 GHz WiFi network.Overall, it’s a great value for smart recessed lighting with a lot of flexibility and customization.
Easy to install great value
This Lumary Smart Gimbal LED is a unique and versatile lighting solution that allows you to spotlight specific areas, such as my American flag out front, with adjustable colors and white temperature settings controllable via the Lumary app or Google Home. After using it for a day, I wanted to share my initial impressions to highlight features and details not fully covered in the product listing, which may help potential buyers make an informed decision. The light is well-constructed, with a sturdy design and a foam seal that creates a moisture/air tight barrier when pressed against the mounting surface, making it suitable for various environments which make sense as this is damp rated. Installation is straightforward, even for DIYers, with everything included: wire nuts, clear instructions, a customer service info card, and a pre-cut template for tracing and cutting the mounting hole (a utility knife works, but a proper cutting tool [a keyhole saw] speeds things up). The quick-connect wiring is foolproof, designed to fit only one way, and includes a retaining nut to secure the connection to the driver. For safety, ensure the power is disconnected before installation - mine was controlled by a switch, which made it easy.A few key points to note: This light only supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, not 5GHz, so you’ll need to ensure your network is compatible. The setup requires the Lumary app, which is user-friendly but requests extensive permissions, some of which seem unnecessary for its function. While the app performs well for setup and control, I’m cautious about what it might do in the background, as the company is based in China. I’m also exploring Zigbee options to reduce Wi-Fi congestion, as adding multiple smart devices can slow down your home network-a potential concern for households with many connected devices.Overall, the Lumary Smart Gimbal LED offers impressive build quality, easy installation, and vibrant lighting options. It’s a great choice for those seeking customizable, high-quality lighting, but be mindful of the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi limitation and app permissions when considering your purchase.
