These swivel wheels are heavy- duty. Each one has thick metal and weighs over 1.5 lbs. They swivel easily on ball bearings. The locking lever is strong and easy to clip. The wheels come with a full set of bolts or screws that fit in the 4 holes for attaching each wheel to wood or metal. The orange tread is not too soft or too hard. This item areis a good value for strong locking swivel wheels.

These casters are a great value and appear to be an equal quality to the much costlier ones I have used in the past.I really appreciate when full dimension drawings are included as was the case here along with a full set of mounting hardware for both wood and metal screw applications.The four mounting holes are slotted a bit to aid in alignment while fastening.The locking mechanism locks and unlocks easily and does a good job securing the wheel.The durable galvanized finish on the metal parts is very much appreciated in our humid environment.The swivel and wheel bearings feel solid and smooth. I can tell that the manufacturer is serious about design and construction.The wheels are polyurethane, but it would be nice to know what the wheel hub is made of. It is not metal and looks like delrin, but its hard to tell. They should include that in the description.Overall, these are a great value and I am very pleased with this product. Hopefully they will hold up well over time.

I picked up these 3" casters because I have a couple of projects around the house that need wheels - e.g., homemade dolly, e-bike rack. These turn out to be surprisingly heavy-duty and robust.The build is very solid. The steel brackets are thick heavy gauge steel. The wheels are rated at 400 lbs each (1600 lbs for the set), much more than what you may find for DIY level wheels. The bearings feel solid, and the polyurethane wheels roll smoothly and quietly. I like that they are non-marring on hardwood floors, and seem durable enough for occasional use on concrete or asphalt. The double-locking brakes are also a good feature. They lock both the wheel and the swivel mechanism, and they do a good job of keeping the caster planted when engaged. Another pro is that the top mounting plate is generously sized to distribute weight evenly and ensure a solid attachment to your platform. The included hardware is a nice bonus. The kit includes nuts & bolts, even washers, and optional heavy duty wood screws to cover all your mounting possibilities.My only note is that one wheel in my set does not spin quite as freely as the others. Mildly annoying. But the wheel assembly appears serviceable with lock nuts, so adjustment may be possible. At roughly $6 per wheel, these are priced similarly to many DIY caster options. Given the overall build and quality exceeded my expectations, it's excellent value for the money, and a little adjustment is tolerable.

I'm in the process of moving and I have a lot of large furniture i.e. book shelves, chest of drawers, entertainment center etc. Consequently I need to make a large furniture dolly and since I will be doing most of the moving by myself all the casters needed to be swivel casters, have a double-locking mechanism, have non-marring wheels and be inexpensive. Having 4 full swivel casters is important to enable maneuvering items around sharp corners and through narrow passages while the double-locking feature prevents the dolly from moving when loading and unloading items. A double-locking mechanism locks the caster and prevents it from swiveling and at the same time locks the wheel to prevent it from rolling and both of these features are important to keep the dolly in place while loading and unloading especially if you are working by yourself. Luckily I found this set of 4 economical swivel casters with double-locking mechanism manufactured by HOME MASTER HARDWARE that met all of my requirements and thus looked like the perfect solution. The caster wheels are constructed out of rigid orange polyurethane and measure approx. 3 inch in diameter by 1 inch wide with black plastic hubs at their center. The hubs have sealed bearings which are fastened to the zinc plated swivel bracket with M8 x 55 mm bolts and locknuts. The top plate has a thickness of approx. 1/8 of an inch and measures approx. 3.6 inches by 2.5 inches and has heavy zinc plating. The plates have mounting hole center-to-center spacing of approx. 2.8 inches by 1.75 inches and will accept a maximum diameter bolt of 5/16 inches. The set includes sixteen 1/4-20 x 1.25 inch bolts for through bolting, sixteen #10 x 1 inch hex head sheet metal screws for non-though bolt applications and also included are 32 flat washers to facilitate either mounting method. The locking mechanism works excellent and is easily applied by pressing down the lever where it is marked "ON" and conversely the locking function is turned off by pressing the "OFF" area of the lever (see photo). Overall these are heavy duty, smooth operating casters that had all of the features I needed and this makes them an incredible deal.

Comes with 10mm head wood screws as well as with 7/16" head 1/4-20 bolts and nuts, washers included. Note that if you plan to drive the wood screws into 3/4" plywood, the tips of the screws will stick out the other side a little over 1/8", unfortunately you'll have to grind the exposed tips off after installing the wheels, or find other fasteners if your intent is to have nothing sticking out the other side. I had a grinder.In my case, since the plywood was already a few weeks old, i didn't want to split the wood, so i drilled a 5/32" pilot hole though at each screw location. This also helps to guide the wood screws without deflecting out of perpendicular.My use-case was to lift off a freezer in a space that gets occasional wetness on the floor. Rather than just tossing spacers under the freezer, i wanted to be able to roll it around to clean behind and clean out the surfaces of collected dust since it's also a messy area. These wheels were perfect. They are soft enough to not damage the epoxy flooring, and the material does not mark the flooring or leave scuffs. With 400lbs capacity per wheel, i have no fear of having to tilt the freezer, on its dolly, to get it over cables or other impediments.I worry a bit that it's not stainless steel bearings or sealed, maybe over time the humidity in the space may rust the bearings or other components. fingers crossed.

I have bought many caster wheels before because I build a lot of home made dollies to move around heavy appliance and equipment around the home to create efficient workspaces. These caster wheels are not bad, they do not have much play on the top swivel and the bearings look good. I tried applying some light load and they seem to respond well, but only time can tell at full load. The brakes are very strong, no complaints with that.The wheel bearing looks serviceable in some way with a locking nut. I don't typically see that but that is fine. For something that is rated for 440lb, for the 5" I think it was, I don't really like to see plastic wheel construction. I can't see what is inside the wheel itself unfortunately, but the wheel structure could be plastic unless there is metal inside. I really can't tell. Because of that, I would not want to load it with 440lb unless I knew - maybe they can update the specifications to advertise what the wheel structural loading material is made of...The coating on the wheel that contacts the ground is good, no complaints there. It didn't scuff flooring or leave any skid marks. It is softer than I would like though. For my home use, I think fine, but industrial warehouse, I think the wheel material is soft if you have stuff like metal shavings from lathe and stuff, might be better to go with more industrial harder durometer for that load. But clean warehouse I could see little issues with these - good enough.For the price I would say it is good, I take off 1 star because of the wheel can't tell if it is plastic coated and the load bearing wheel core is metal or not. Maybe the manufacturer can chime in.Long Note based on my experience: Though I will caution that the only way to tell if caster wheels are good is through wear over weeks and months at full load - which I have not have the chance to test out. This is because what often wears out is not the wheel but the bearing unit at the swivel where it can no longer hold the levered torque (the wheel doesn't sit on the floor exactly where the swivel point is so there is a lever action....and over time at max weight....the bearing start to get loose and then scratch or fail).

Great rolling mountains of thunder, these wheels are the real deal. I got the 5 inch wheels and mounted them on a 4' x 8' solid top tableland wow do they handle the weight easily. I put a set of wheels and tires on top of the table and rolled it around my course finished concrete shop. No problems!! They roll easily, turn easily and the brakes work. Easily worth the money paid and I compared them to wheels that cost $50 and even $70 for 4 and they are just right, no issues at all. How often does that happen? NO ISSUES, just rolling perfection!
