I ordered these DEXDE stair runners for two reasons: our dog uses the upstairs, and my disabled mother‑in‑law recently moved in with us. We were in the middle of refinishing our stairs when she arrived, and although we offered her our downstairs master bedroom, she insisted on taking an upstairs room. Because of her mobility challenges, we installed a stair‑chair, which put the refinishing project on hold. She still comes down occasionally for therapy, so I wanted something that would give her extra traction — and the paw‑print design actually makes her smile on the way up.Each runner measures 8" × 30", which matches the listing, but they’re not large enough to fully cover a standard 11" tread. One of the product photos makes it look like the runners cover the entire step, but that’s not the case. Installation is simple: peel the backing and press the tread into place. They add a bit of cushion and noticeably better traction than bare wood.The adhesive, however, was the weak point at first. After a few trips down the stairs, our dog Lucy managed to kick several runners loose. Reapplying them didn’t help — more came loose over the next few weeks. The surface grips very well underfoot, but the adhesive didn’t seem to hold up to Lucy’s trips down the stairs. I considered adding double‑sided tape but wasn’t confident it would bond properly. Since we’ll be refinishing the stairs anyway, I decided to secure the runners with carpet tacks. That worked, but it might not be ideal for someone who isn’t prepared to use additional hardware.*****EDIT***** After posting my original review and giving a neutral rating, I noticed a few snags on some of the runners. I had my wife trim Lucy’s toenails, removed the carpet tacks, and reapplied the runners. Since then, none have come loose. With that issue resolved, I’m confident these stair treads perform as advertised — and now that the tacks are gone, I can remove the treads easily for cleaning (a major PLUS). I’m updating my rating to 5 stars.

I have some inside dogs that like to get their paws a little muddy in the backyard during the rainy season, so I thought this product might be a helpful solution to keep my stairs clean. I like that it comes with enough mats for a standard staircase. The mats have some adhesive on the back to help them not slide around, although one of the reasons I rated 4 stars and not 5 is because the adhesive is actually not strong enough to keep them in place under the weight of my big dogs, so they shift and become somewhat of a trip hazard. I will say, my stairs are carpeted which does not seem to be the intended use for these, so I won’t put too much stock in that but I did try the product on hard floor as well and found the adhesive still to be weaker than I would prefer. They are cute and seem to be made of quality tufted rug materials that are pretty absorbent and keep the mud off my flooring. One other thing to note is that I didn’t read the dimensions before ordering so I was surprised to learn these mats are much smaller than the size of my stair steps, which I thought were some sort of standard size, so I strongly recommend reading the dimensions before ordering.
