I'm not particularly happy that filtering water from the tap for drinking is pretty much a necessity for health these days. However, since it is, at least these are easy to use. I'm using these to replace the UKF8001 and they are physically exact fits. They easily twist into the refrigerator compartment and have never leaked. Although the water tastes fine, and is free of odor and color, these are not my concerns. I am most interested in contaminant reduction. Unfortunately, I did not check the NSF certifications before ordering. The two certifications these claim, posted on the website and printed on the filter label itself, are NSF 372 and NSF/ANSI 42, neither of which certifies removal of health-related contaminants like lead, bacteria, or viruses. NSF 372 verifies the material composition of the filter itself to ensure it contains minimal lead. It doesn't remove or reduce lead from the water. NSF/ANSI 42 indicates a focus on aesthetic effects rather than health effects, reducing contaminants that affect taste, odor, and color, such as chlorine and sediment. So, these don't do what I want most from filtration. However, if your focus is on taste, odor, and clarity, these may be an appropriate choice.

I have a Whirlpool refrigerator and I have used several different brand filters over the years. You are supposed to replace them around every 6 months. They all go in the same, and this one was no different. I had no problem installing it. I hate having to flush 4 gallons of the water through it, but again, they all tell you to do that.I gave it 5 stars but I honestly have no way of telling how effective it is unless I pay for a water test. The water tastes fine and it takes out the taste that is a result of the municipal filtering and addition of chlorine and whatever else they put in it.
