It looks more like a beautiful designer light fixture than a traditional ceiling fan.The four-bulb design provides plenty of light, and I love that I can choose my own E26 bulbs to get exactly the warmth and brightness I want. This ceiling fan is very unique and has a slight mid- century design. The entire shade structure is made from precision cut (programmed laser or the like), plywood in two pieces that connect without hardware. The lampshade seems to have no stain or paint, but has been sealed with a urethane or similar clear coat.As you can see, I ordered the light or "natural" colored lamp. The metal parts of the lamp structure are painted a dusty gold color. The fan is plastic and has a kind of fake wood grain look to it. That aspect is my least favorite part of this product. In fact I would have preferred that the lamp be silver with the natural wood. But, the underlying lamp structure does blend int the shade which works too.This lamp / fan works via remote only. This means that you can keep your wall switch on and control both the fan and light functions independently with the remote. This also means that if the batteries in the remote die you won't be able to control either function. Not a big deal, just be awareThe quality of this fans construction is as good as any mid priced ceiling fan that you would find at a big box store.Installation of this fan was pretty straight forward. I was replacing an old school ceiling light fixture with a round junction box. This fan does have one exceptional feature that I have NEVER seen on ceiling fixture that I have installed. A simple hook and cable to hang the metal fan and light structure from while connecting the wires. This simple addition made the installation far easier.I would recommend this ceiling fan for a small room with medium to low ceilings to anyone, and the price is a very good value.
