This latch is a good design for right or left side connections where the surfaces are continuous OR connecting at a 90 degree angle. It's fairly small and lightweight, so I wouldn't be using it on a heavy barn door, but it's great for a cabinet or lightweight door. It worked well on a long access door set in beadboard paneling.The machining quality isn't perfect (I knocked out some of the overpour from the mold for the screws), but it's generally well made, fully functional, and the spacing between the lever and the slot is good. When installing, be sure to test fit the closure, mark the holes, drill and install one side, then test fit again before installing the second side. "Measure twice, cut once" is a good rule to follow (even though it's "drill" this time).

Bought 2 sets to lock barn doors on inside and outside. Work as expected! A little bummed it didn't come with white screws as pictured, but nothing a little white out or paint can't fix.

I have an older home and ordered this latch for my wooden screen door. Currently I have one of those latches that looks like a nail is bent at the end and you put the pokey part of the “nail” into a small eye screw on the door frame. I’ve always hated that latch. The nail part sometimes doesn’t fall to the right position when not in use and scratches the door frame or the door doesn’t shut completely because it’s in the way. Not to mention I’ve been scratched or had a hole put in my clothes by it. Not anymore! This latch is a really nice and atypical design and it has two options for mounting depending on your situation. You can mount this so that the latch and its receptacle are at 90° to each other or you can mount it so the latch and receptacle are right next to each other when the door is closed. I like that the latch also clicks and softly locks into a position so for example when you turn the knob, presumably upwards, to unlatch it, the latch and knob will stay in its position instead of loosely hanging or swaying and possibly interfering with the closing of the door. This latch is lightweight and seems to be painted quite nicely. I expect it to hold up for a good while.

This INIRET aluminum door/gate latch feels substantial. It is well made. Due to the configuration of the slatted piece, having left, right, and center lock receiving slats, it can be set up several ways. You can utilize the lock with both pieces flat for a gate. The two individual pieces of the latching lock can be arranged left, or right, according to your needs. The way that we chose to install this door latch is shown below, locking into the center slat. No matter how you choose to position this latch, it is strong, and effective. Placed high up on a storm door, or a gate, it can be an additional aid to keep pets and small children from going out. It is easy to lock and unlock. The installation requires carefully marking the height and position before you use a drill. As you can see below, it only requires placing the screws by hand. Make sure to understand the material that you want to drill into. That will dictate the type of screws needed. In a gate, you’ll want to use wood or metal screws depending on what it is made of. Using the right screws will ensure that they are secure. You also need to look at the depth of what you’re installing. You wouldn’t want to use a screw that was longer than the thickness of your door. If you carefully measure things, you won’t have any problems. The piece that we installed on the storm door itself, needed a metal washer beneath of the sliding lock when installed. We had to compensate for a lip around the frame. It worked out beautifully. It is very secure. It does not affect the ability of the sliding latch to lock properly. This is a simple, yet effective solution for adding a bit more security to a door or gate. This is a well made item that was easy to install. I would recommend this product, especially for those who have children or pets. This door latch is definitely a value for the money.
