Boen produces high quality tool sets. And they make a wide variety of combinations. This is a step down from their usual standard. It's not a bad set, just not as good as it usually is. It may be they are introducing a budget line of tools.The issue is using heat treated Chrome-Vanadium in impact tools. The standard is Chrome-Molybdenum. Cr-V can be heat treated and then used for impact tools but it is not as strong as Cr-Mo. That signals to me, there should be a torque limit specified for heat treated Cr-V.A.I. summaries of the difference."Heat-treated Chrome-Vanadium (Cr-V) sockets are precision hand tools typically hardened to HRC 38–44, engineered for high surface wear-resistance with manual ratchets, but unsuited for high-stress pneumatic impact guns.""Heat-treated Chrome-Molybdenum (Cr-Mo) sockets are engineered for high-torque impact use, featuring a lower hardness rating of 33–48 HRC for high toughness, thicker walls to absorb shocks.."Setting aside our differences over steel choice, this is the usual fantastic Boen product.All parts are coated with Black Manganese Phosphate. They're color coded and sizes are etched into the surface. They go one step further and fill the etching with a bright paint, for easy recognition.It's difficult to price check, as Boen occupies such a large part of the market, through the various combinations available.My recommendation: If you want an exceptional socket set, this might be it. If you need impact quality, watch for a Boen Cr-Mo set on sale.

This is a very nice impact socket set, especially for the money. It includes a useful selection of both SAE and metric sockets in shallow and deep well sizes, so it covers most common jobs without needing to reach for another set. The only noticeable skipped size I found is 20 mm, which would have been nice to have included.The sockets themselves feel well made. They use a flank-drive style design, so they grip the flats of the fastener instead of the corners. That is a big plus because it helps reduce the chance of rounding bolts and nuts, especially when using an impact wrench. They are also fairly thin-walled for impact sockets, which makes them easier to fit into tighter spaces. The wall thickness is closer to a chrome socket than I expected, while still feeling sturdy enough for impact use.The satin black finish looks good and has held up well so far. I also really like that the sockets have both stamped size markings and recessed painted markings. That makes the sizes much easier to read, and the recessed paint should hold up better over time than surface-only markings.The set also includes both 5/8 and 13/16 spark plug-style impact sockets, which is a nice bonus. The included extensions range from 3 inches to 10 inches, giving you a lot of flexibility for different jobs. The ratchet feels robust, with an average-sized head and a fine-tooth mechanism. I would guess it is around 120 teeth, and it has very little backdrag, which makes it nice to use in tighter spaces.There are also several useful extras included, such as a 3/8-inch bit driver socket for 1/4-inch bits, a decent selection of bits, an impact universal joint, and a drill chuck adapter. The storage case is another nice included extra. It has metal latches, which feel much better than the flimsy plastic latches you often get on tool cases. The sockets are also retained by molded dimples, so they stay in place instead of spilling everywhere if the case gets bumped, tipped, or accidentally kicked.Overall, this is a well-thought-out set with a lot of useful pieces. The sockets feel solid, the markings are easy to read, the ratchet is better than expected, and the included accessories and case add real value. You would have a hard time assembling a comparable set piece by piece for anywhere near the same price. This set is money well spent and a great value.
