I was so surprised by how good the fixture looked when I opened it. I even wired it up and turned it on for a quick peek. The light it gives off is super warm and cozy. It was packed incredibly well with tons of custom foam, so I wasn't worried about any shipping damage. I originally planned to put it in a back room, but after seeing it, I'm putting it in the entry hall instead. It's really nice and better than I expected!

I knew I had to change it out, but to replace it was something I had to wait for. At long last this appears in my algorithm, and I snapped it up.Not only does this version of an NYC Subway Lamp have a metal base, but it's LED ready, and comes with the exact LED light that you'll need. You can opt to wire in the remote control, or just leave it out, it's up to you. I opted out; I don't need a remote and different lighting for my lanai, just a simple, working light. Turns out the clean average white light setting is perfect for my use, anyway.The wiring was easy - everything matched: white to white, black to black, copper to ground. The wirs are much thinner and more delicate than the old lamp wiring because LEDs only carry minimal voltage.When you're stripping the wires, do be very gentle. The delicate wires can be broken easily. Fortunately for me, I have stripped wires before, and the jacket on this wire is easily stripped. Twisting the wire into the old heavy gauge wiring was a little touch and go, but the electrical caps provided grabbed well and tightened with ease.***Note: Always test the bulb before putting the cover on! I did, and I was very happy with the result. Once the cover was in position, I was charmed by the frosted look of this beautiful lamp.I chose a black base instead of white simply to not have to clean it as often; I noted that the white gets very dusty even in an enclosed lanai. The black looks very sleek and modern!If you are on the fence about getting this lamp, I vouch for its strength and sense of character. It's well worth the asking price.

This site is much bigger in person. It obviously States the dimensions but still I was pleasantly surprised when I saw how substantially big it was in comparison to the photographs. To me it's reminiscent of a crystal ball though it's not transparent it has a nice soft glass which also includes an LED light bulb as pictured. The base is metal and it can be used in various ways. I personally like the ideas in the vendor's description the photographs there made me think of things that I didn't think of before such as multiple ones in hallways and walkways within the home. What I like about it is that it can go from casual to formal from farmhouse to modern it all works. The quality is great and you can tell when you hold it. It must be hardwired so I'm saving it for my handyman since I'm doing renovations in my 1900 Dutch colonial. It's a lot of work so all these little details go a long way and pulling everything together and giving a nice clean look. It would even look cute in the ceiling of a nursery or a child's bedroom. Regardless if you're looking for a simple yet stylish light source look no more.
