Nice quality holder. The adjustment nut is smooth to turn and fits well to the bolt threads. The knurling is clean and defined. All of the edges are nicely chamfered. The grub screws turn nicely as well and hold tight with a tool in place. The finish is consistent all around and has legible print on the front. Machining quality is good and the holder looks like it will hold up for a long time. I feel like this is a good value for the price.

I ordered this tool holder for the ASX tool post I have on my 1943 vintage Logan 10" lathe. The tool post was installed about 10 years ago. This tool holder fit perfectly on the older tool post and locked down securely just as do the two original tool holders that came with the tool post. A test cut was made on a piece of steel rod that came from a truck tie rod. The tool holder was steady under load and remained securely locked to the post. A test cut was started and then the tool holder was removed from the post to test the repeatability of the mount. The tool holder was mounted on the post again and the cut continued exactly as it was before was removed.The tool holder is a bit thicker than the originals that came with the tool post. I view this as a trade-off, on one hand it has more mass to contribute to the stability of the tool, but it also places the tool a bit farther from the center of the post which may offset any advantage of the additional metal. The fit and finish is excellent on the mating surfaces. The edges on the tool holder are left with somewhat sharp edges as stated by another reviewer. The photos were taken after slightly relieving the edges to eliminate the sharp profile. The first photo is the tool holder mounted on the tool post. The second shows the additional thickness of the new tool holder.

Well, I jumped upon this a bit too quickly, and later realized that I actually needed an AXB rather than this AXA for my tool post. So I was unable to fully put this through its paces, but these tool holders aren't super complicated, and I was able to get a pretty good feel for it. The dimensions are a bit bigger than the listing indicates, with the tool slot being 0.591" tall instead of the 0.5" specified, and the total height being 1.557" tall instead of the 1.5" specified. With that said, some of my other tool holders are the same way, and this doesn't have any negative effects upon their functionality. The dovetail slot is machined cleanly, and overall this should make a fine tool holder.

Most tool posts in this category are about 5mm thinner (width between slot and mating surface) and prone to resonance, but this QC tool holder has a wider profile - not a wider slot, the slot is 1/2" - that adds significant mass. In my home shop with about thirty different 250-101 and -102 holders, this is the stoutest of the bunch. The added bulk helps dampen high-frequency vibrations and shifts the chatter profile during heavy cuts, allowing you to run different surface speeds.The mating wedge surfaces are precision ground flat and true - zero complaints there. While the tool slot isn’t ground after blueing, the tolerances are tight and precise. I put it through a stress test cutting threads with a boring-bar threading tool, and the rigidity was excellent (and I know that for that threading process that tooling made no sense, it was just a test).The hex-drive grub screws feel high-grade and didn’t strip under heavy clamping pressure, which is a common failure point on cheaper 4-pack alternatives. I’ve actually had to buy separate high-quality grub screws to replace the ones on cheaper QC holders. While there are cheaper options out there, this is very much a “you get what you pay for” proposition.

Everything appears to be as it’s supposed to be on this quick change tool holder. It fits my phase 2 AXA tool post perfectly.Everything appears to be well machined and ground. The hardware appears to be fine.If you’re not familiar with quick change tool posts, this is an attachment to be able to lock on turning tools to a quick change tool post for a metal lathe. They are quickly removable and easy to swap out for other tools during machining. This type of tool holder greatly increases efficiency, allowing you to swap out tools quickly without having to take one tool out and mount different tools in the same holder.

Well made tool holder, nice finish on the machining, fits great on my AXA tool post, no excess play or movement and the dovetails are well made. The grub screws hold the tool holder nice and solid, and the height adjustment works like it should. Zero issues with this unit, and very affordable compared to some of my other tool holders that cost more and yet look virtually the same. I have no worries about this thing lasting a long long time without any troubles whatsoever. Overall a great value for the money on a nice tool holder, you can never have too many!
