really love these

[Item Package Quantity: 2, Size Name: 36 Inch]
We built a 6 -8 foot fence I absolutely love these matter of fact I ordered 2 (THE ONLY THING) we had to put a dab of quick set mold/metal to keep the bottom from always coming out making it more difficult to put in the ground each time. That being said they work amazing. Since we were able to put the "stop" on the pole just under the curved handle (after we installed it) we love it...looks very professional! Sorry I don't have a picture, I am not at home writing this, so I may add one later

Sturdy

[Item Package Quantity: 1, Size Name: 18 Inch]
This 18-inch cane bolt feels solid and heavy duty compared with some of the lighter gate hardware I've used. The black finish looks clean and blends well with my existing fence and gate hardware.Installation was straightforward, and the included mounting screws were convenient to have in the package. The drop rod moves smoothly and gives the gate a secure way to stay in position without needing anything complicated.I like that it can be used with wood, metal, or vinyl gates, making it a versatile option for different fence setups. The 18-inch length provides good ground reach, and the overall construction feels durable enough for outdoor use.A simple piece of hardware, but it does exactly what it's supposed to do and gives the gate a more secure, finished setup.

Extremely useful. The 36” length makes life just a bit more simple. Inexpensive.

[Item Package Quantity: 1, Size Name: 36 Inch]
This HIMIRICH Heavy Duty Cane Bolt Gate Drop Rod, 36” Black Gate Latches Hardware for Wood Fence Gates is a stout and sturdy device that will keep gates securely closed (or open, depending on installation). The matte black looks sharp and is rust resistant. The 36” length means no bending and greater comfort engaging the bolt. Incredibly easy to use and to install, we have cane bolts all over our farm. They provide security secondary to the sturdiness so the steel. Highly functional in gate hardware, or on wooden shop doors and doors to chicken coops, etc. they are inexpensive and useful. We have some that have been working hard for over twenty years. This HIMIRICH cane bolt should last equally as long.

Good, but almost great!Good, but almost great!

[Item Package Quantity: 1, Size Name: 12 Inch, Item Package Quantity: 1, Size Name: 12 Inch]
I installed this 12-inch gate drop rod on my gate to keep it secure from top to bottom, and it has worked well so far. The hardware feels sturdy, and installation was straightforward with the included mounting screws. It matches well with the other hardware that I have installed on the gate and is the right size for what I needed. One issue I noticed is that the drop rod can be pulled completely out of the mounting brackets. To prevent that, I drilled a small hole near the top of the rod, in between the two brackets, and installed a cotter pin. It was a quick fix, and now the rod stays in place while still operating normally.Overall, this is a solid, heavy-duty gate latch that secures my gate well. If the manufacturer added a built-in stop and supplied a cotter pin to keep the rod from pulling out, it would be even better.

Matched Pair Keeps Both Gates Steady

[Item Package Quantity: 1, Size Name: 18 Inch]
I ended up buying a second one so I could run a matched pair on my 12 foot double gates, and that turned out to be the right call. With one drop rod on each gate, they stay lined up much better and do not shift around like they did before. Once installed, both rods slid smoothly and held the gates in place the way I wanted.I am giving these 5 stars because they solved the problem without any fuss and gave the whole gate setup a more secure feel. I use these on outdoor gates that get opened often, and having both sides pinned down has made a noticeable difference in how stable the gates feel when closed.

Rod and hardware are on the lighter side.Rod and hardware are on the lighter side.

I have a vinyl fence with a single gate but I have been planning to add a second gate. So when this fence ground latch came available I ordered it for my project. Upon inspection I noticed some differenced between it and my current latch rod. This rod is ½” diameter which is probably adequate but my existing gate rod is 5/8”. The other difference is the brackets which are made of a thinner steel and simply screw to the face of the vinyl gate whereas my existing gate has thicker brackets that wrap around the gate and screw into two faces. I posted a photo of the rod as well as the brackets against my current gate rod and brackets. Please ignore the shorter length of this one since it is available in longer sizes, but my comparison is more of the differences in design.Pros:-Inexpensive ground rod latch that should work fine on a wood or metal fence where the flat single plane bracket would most likely be adequate.Cons:-Single plae bracket will most likely not be sufficient for vinyl fence. A wrap around bracket screwlled into two faces would be a much better option for vinyl fence.-Order a long rod as opposed to the short version I got since you will need to bend over excessively to open and latch this one.-The upper bracket which is intended to hold the rod in the upward position does not have a cradle to hold the rod so it will likely fall after being put in the raised position. In addition, it is a knuckle scraper. Rods with a tang on them which you rotate to sit on the bracket hole will not scrape your hands. Conclusion:Although I got this to review, I do not plan to use it on my gate project due to the limitations I stated above. If you are building a wood gate then I think this would work fine but I would recommend a longer rod. I would not recommend it for vinyl gates.
