And yes, I have been watching this whole accent-wall molding trend take over social media thinking, “I can do that!”These pre-cut molding panels are exactly the kind of product I needed to make that confidence a little more realistic. And they are NOT peel and stick...YES because I want to limit that type of product to wallpaper only.The biggest selling point for me is that the pieces are already cut. I didn't have to buy 8-foot boards, drag them home, measure everything, figure out my cuts, and then hope I could make all the angles match. The kit gives you three 16x16-inch frames that are ready to assemble and install with adhesive. For someone learning as they go, that removes a LOT of the intimidation factor.And let's talk about the alternative. The amount to purchase the lumber alone aligns with this kit's purchase price. However I can't even account for the adhesive, tools, cutting, sanding, painting, and the inevitable “oops, I cut that one wrong” piece of wood.That's where I think this kit earns its price. You're paying for the convenience of having the measuring and cutting already done, plus the time you're not spending wrestling with 8-foot boards in the garage.The panels are white and paintable, so you can customize them to whatever color you're using on your wall. They also have that polished, architectural look that makes a basic wall look considerably more expensive than it actually is.I'm planning to use these in my dining room, and I love that I can get the look of custom wall molding without having to become a professional carpenter overnight.If you're an experienced DIYer with all the tools and already have a pile of lumber in your garage, you may prefer to make these yourself. At first I thought I was going to refinish these doors. They aren't worth refinishing. I wanted to replace them with six-panel doors but that's too expensive for a house we're selling. However, I couldn't leave them like this (pic). I tried replacing door knobs but that's not enough. There's something about these doors that makes them look old, worn and outdated. We're trying to modernize the look! It's amazing what a border will do!I initially got these for the walls. Our walls aren't super-textured, but self-stick borders don't work well on an orange-peel texture even if it's subtle. These frames look like wood, feel solid, and update doors and interior walls without a lot of work. I was going to use a self-stick putty in the four corners because it holds well and adapts to uneven surfaces, but that all changed when I realized I could put two frames in each of the doors instead of a single border (pic). It makes the doors look modern and more expensive. Unfortunately, I couldn't place them because the doors must be painted first, but this is the solution! I can paint the door a light gray and leave the pre-cut frame borders the way they are. It will look like I put in a lot of work with very little effort.These are perfectly mitered and ready to use. They look great and as if the door was made this way. I will do anything to keep from mitering. We need a mitering saw and I am always using wood putty to fix uneven cuts. I did buy some quarter round and was going to use it, but these are much more stylish, lighter-weight and I don't have to make the mitering cuts myself! There are three frames in a pack, so I only need one more set for three upstairs doors. The price is absolutely right, and less expensive than some self-stick options that don't look as good.
