I bench tested these attractive lights, and they both tested just fine. The led light color is just right for outdoor landscaping and step light applications. Warm, and not so bright as to be obnoxious. I have yet to determine where I will mount this pair, but will probably purchase an additional pair and use the on the steps to my hot tub.The lights are of very nice quality, and work well on 12vdc low voltage power supply purchased from Amazon.I am rating these a solid 4 stars for overall product quality, functionality, light color and intensity, attractive finish, and a decent bargain at the current price point. I held a star back due to my inability to rate longevity at this time. If they end up lasting for years and years, they will certainly be worthy of a full 5 star rating!

These are great bronze step lights. I ordered them to put on two steps we built as part of a new pergola walkway this summer. The area is quite dark at night and it was important for me to add light here for safety reasons. These were a great choice.These lights are very hefty and well made. For this price point, I was honestly expecting less. They were super easy to install for us as we were able to put them in when we were building, but if you should know that since they're 3.5" tall, you may need to install some backer boards so that the cutout works without destroying your step support. In other words, the cutout is going to be almost as wide as the board you're probably screwing it into. We chose to install support as we built it. This isn't a knock against these lights, though, as any light this size is going to run into this issue.The brightness of this light is perfect--brighter than I expected--but the fact that it's a down-light means it's not shining in your face, even on a taller set of steps than where we installed it. This is a great light for the money and I would order it again.

I have a deck remodel planned, and one of the things I'm most excited to incorporate into my deck is some nice lighting. I ordered these step lights to make navigating up and down the stairs a little easier and safer, and I have to say I like them.The lights are very nice--their appearance is high-end, with a smooth, consistent metallic brown/oil-rubbed bronze kind of finish on the face of the lights. The LED lighting extends the full width of the opening on the face of the light, and it puts more light than I expected. There are two buttons on the underside of the light towards its right side; one of the buttons cycles the brightness through three different levels of output while the other button cycles the light through five different color temperatures ranging from a very cool/bluish white to a very warm/yellowish light and three intermediate options. I appreciate that these buttons remain accessible after installation without having to remove anything. Even better is that even if power is lost, the lights remember their brightness and color temp setting instead of reverting to some factory setting.These lights are designed to work with a variety of low voltage transformers--it can accept between 12 and 24 volts, either AC or DC. If you're installing these any real distance from the transformer, I would encourage using a 24 volt transformer to minimize voltage drop, especially if you're using multiple lights on a single string. The included low voltage wire connectors seem to be more robust than a lot of the other low-voltage self-tapping connector I've seen included with other low-voltage light kits.My only nit to pick (and I'm not docking any points because this wasn't a surprise, based on the product listing photos) with these lights is that they are face mounted using two screws that screw in through holes on the front of the light. The set includes little plastic plugs to cover the holes/screws, but they are black plastic, so those plugs stand out more than necessary. At this price point for a higher-end step light, I would have preferred to see a bracket that is screwed to the wall or stair riser and then have the step light clip into that bracket, avoiding the need for any visible mounting hardware and making for a much cleaner install.
