I own a lot of Golden Star landscape lights, and have always found them to be a cost efficient good value for a good quality fixture. The fixture is metal and nicely made, and all my other Golden Star lights have held up quite well. Note on this light - it is halogen, not LED (I didn't note that, and much prefer the very energy efficient LED), but I easily swapped out the bulb for an LED and it worked great. The halogen fixture is a nice warm 2700k - and I replaced with a similar LED - so the light is warm and friendly. Installs easily on a standard 12v system. Overall good lights for the money.

These are heavy duty well-made floodlights. They are chunkier than how they appear online. These are well designed for residential use but could also be used for commercial purposes. All metal design including stakes. My experience with these types of stakes is that eventually they will corrode and disintegrate. Plastic stakes seem to be working better in the long run but it takes several years for the metal ones to get bad. Lighting shell will last a long long time. Similar price to others of this quality. If not going to be seen, you can probably go with cheaper flood/spot lights. Comes with everything you need to install with your existing wire and transformer. Uses a newer type of connector that I have not used before. However, still has the little metal prongs that will eventually rust and break down/fail. I would probably replace with the screw on type connectors that are water-proof. Either way, easy to install. I also wrap my connectors with electrical tape to help prevent water getting into the connector.

I took the time to take these apart to inspect them for durability. In my findings I can say the housing itself is made of from a cast aluminum called pot metal. They can withstand the elements as long as there is a substantial coating of paint. These are painted well. No flaking or chipping. The inside however is unfinished and will eventually "pit". There is no separation from the bulbs socket and the reflector, which this housing does not have one. The housing is hollow relying on the bulbs reflector to create the lighting effect. The housing is also not water or moisture proof. There is an area where the wires enter the housing and they are not secured. No strain relief is provided. In summary this is a bare bones housing.The included bulb is replaceable. An MR16 with a low voltage rating of 12V AC/DC at 50 watts. This particular bulb has a lumen output of only 380. You can, and I do suggest , replacing the bulb with an LED version. The benefits are a cooler running bulb, lower wattage and higher lumens.The connector tab is functional but you can not bury the wire at this point as the housing is not water tight.In summary you can get brass housing landscape lights for just a few dollars more. Brass is the preferred metal for outdoor fixtures as the metal will literally last a lifetime.Cheers

I was a little nervous about how to hook these lights up when I first opened them. They have a weird plug like thing I had never seen before. I haven’t installed outdoor lights like this before. I was looking at the directions and got a better idea. I called the helpline and was surprised at how helpful they were. I got a way better knowledge of how and what to do on the installation. First thing from the seller is it is not mandatory but he said get and “LED replacement bulb MR 16”. there are a bunch of them from cheap to pretty expensive. He also said to get the “400 Lumen 2700-3000 watt bulb”. He said it will give off a nice warm light nothing bright like a hospital light. More of a warm fireplace like glow. You also need a transformer which you can get on Amazon for different prices. They have some fancy ones in boxes and all I have one that is not in a box that I reviewed the other day that will work just fine. I will just need to find a way to protect it from the elements. You do whatever you feel is better. The last thing you will need is some landscape wire 16 gauge is what he said to use. From this box you can sprout off and light many other items. He said with a 120 watt transformer and the LED bulbs you can run 20-30 lights. If you get the 120 volt I would not run that many. I would jump up to a 150 and it will be pretty much the last transformer you need for your lights. I would also suggest using their set up unless you know what you are doing. Just to save headaches in the future. I would highly recommend this light set. I would recommend you call the helpline and talk to one of the people. I found mine to be more than happy to help and he gave me more advice than I thought I needed which was nice. If for the only lights you will use or as a starter kit this would be a great start. Get the upgrades and be happy for hears to come.

They assemble within just a minute and include a stake that will keep the light anchored in position. It's a relatively bright light at 50 Watts. Note that it is not an LED but an actual halogen bulb, which can be very powerful and also can build up some heat. It has the standard tap in hardware for utilizing a 12 volt low power power line that are common with landscape lighting.
