This review is for the Extension Cords 10/3 Gauge Outdoor/Indoor SJTW 10 AWG 3 Prong Heavy Duty Power Cable 15A 125V 1875W for Lawn, Garden, Appliances, ETL Listed (Black, 6FT)Handling and Physical Flexibility:• Impressive Pliability: Even though this cord is a 10-gauge cord, it is remarkably flexible.• Solid Structural Build: An inspection showed no manufacturing defects. The jacket is uniform throughout the 6-foot length, and the entire product looks well made.Safety and Connector Design:• Transparent Plug Ends: A highly practical feature of this cable is the use of semi-clear plug ends. Beyond the integrated LED indicator that lights up to verify active power, the clear molding provides a great safety benefit: if anything is heating up in either plug end, I would guess that you will see the evidence right away through discoloration before a major problem happens.Conclusion: I cannot find anything bad or concerning to say about this product. If a need arises for another short-run, high-amperage link in the workshop, would I get another one from this seller if I needed it? Yes.

This is a heavy-duty extension cord. As in HEAVY. It seems well made. At only six feet long, though, it's not very versatile as an extension (especially for outdoor use). Make sure this is what you need (and that it's enough for your application(s)). For me it's exactly what my power-hungry table saw and a drill press needed. They're both just beyond the reach of an outlet, using just their hardwired power cords. I had been toying with the idea of lengthening them -- no longer necessary. I won't be swapping tools often with this cord, so it should last.Note the "SJTW" rating. Essentially, that means it has a PVC jacket, is good only to 300 volts (no high-voltage industrial use), and has good temperature and weather resistance. If you need more info, it's abundantly available online.I'm not an electrical engineer, so I can't explain why a 6-foot, 10 AWG cord would be limited to 15 amps or 1875 watts at 125 volts. (That is what I would expect out of a 14 AWG cord.) If I were on the fence about using it for something that draws more current than that, I would do a little research. That said, I'm happy with it for my uses.

I recently bought a new outdoor spa for my backyard. Years ago, I had an above-ground pool that was connected to a dedicated high-amperage electrical circuit. The pool has long since been removed, but the outlet and dedicated line are still there, which I used to plug the spa’s water heater into. The only problem is that the outlet is located near a row of pine trees which give off too much shade. My original plan was to use one of my extension cords to bring the spa a few feet away from the shade of the trees. However, as soon as the spa started heating up, it tripped the breaker. Before ordering a heavier-duty extension cord, I moved the spa close to the outlet and plugged it directly into it. Thankfully, everything worked perfectly and the breaker never tripped. So, I knew I needed to order a 10-gauge cord.When the cord arrived, the first thing I noticed was how thick and heavy-duty it felt. The cable is clearly designed to draw a lot of power. The plug also fit firmly into the outlet without any looseness at all. After connecting the spa with the cord, everything worked perfectly fine and the breaker never once tripped. And the spa heated normally.I ordered the 6-foot version because I only needed a few extra feet of reach. I still wanted the spa close to the corner of my yard by the outlet so it would not take up too much open space. I just needed about 4 to 5 feet to get it out of the shade into the sun. I did not want a longer cord that would have left excess cables piled up around the outlet area. So, the 6 foot cord was the perfect size.This thick extension cord feels extremely well-made and it handled the electrical load of my spa without any issues at all. And after doing some research, I found out that $20 is not too expensive for a 6-foot, ultra-heavy-duty 10/3 AWG extension cord due to the high copper content required for 10-gauge wire.

10/3 Gauge Extension Cord, 6 Feet Long, Review:This extension cord is 10 gauge and so can run things that regular extension cords can't. For example, a 10 gauge is good if you're going to use it for a window air conditioner or space heater, though it's generally advisable not to use extension cords with those at all, if you can help it. Be careful and always mindful that the cord is looked after, protected and not overloaded, though. Also, it won't fix a problem with an overloaded panel. You can only run so much on a given outlet. Keep that in mind.It's really high in price, but the 10 and 12 gauge cords do usually cost more. Price varies and it's worth shopping around between stores, etc. but be careful that the seller is a good one and that the product is well-reviewed and has all of the safety markings. This one is ETL listed and that carries the same meaning as being UL listed and means that it has been 3rd party certified.This cord is 6 feet long and has an LED that is supposed to work in the end to let you know, at a distance, that it's receiving power. Again, it's good, but I'd always check around on an item like this as the prices have been fluctuating on them recently for some reason.

This is a short heavy gauge extension cord for thing like welders or power tools that use a lot of power. The cord I received is well made and thick, as expected, with the lights working and the jacket intact. I can see solid connections to the prongs thru the plugs and feel I can trust it for running my equipment. I use this cord to replace another one I use on a generator that I power a welder with. The welder will absolutely draw 20 Amps from the generator, or house if that is where I plug it in. I use it on a generator because the gas it uses to run all day costs less than the power company charges for an hour running from the shop or house. Anytime you have to use an extension cord with a welder it must meet the voltage drop requirement or it can and will run bad, damage the equipment, cause harm to the cord. The minimum AWG for running 20 amps on 120v circuits is 10AWG. This cord is is marked with the same ratings and listings as the original and works fine. Considering the cost of copper this is a decent price for a 10AWG cord of this length.

Reviewing FSTSN 10/3 cord: A short review is this is an awesome cord with excellent assembly, durable heavy construction, and a clear unambiguous agency certification tag. It is far more flexible than a cord this heavy has any right to be, and the molding on the connectors is flawless. You won’t find a lot of 10AWG cords on the market and I really don’t think you will find one any better than this. If you have an application that would benefit from a cord this heavy I highly recommend this one.Why use a 10AWG cord instead of something smaller? Read on for my cord sizing rant.Heavier conductors in extension cords reduce voltage drop at the load under high current. I put together a simple chart showing voltage drop at the load end of a 100ft extension cord operating at 15A and included it as a picture. Common 16AWG cords at 10.2% really have too much voltage drop, 14AWG at 6.5% are not great but could be tolerated in a bind, 12AWG at 4.1% is looking pretty good explaining why it is usually the go-to size for long cords carrying lots of current. The FSTSN cord is 10AWG and in the 100ft length would only contribute 2.6% voltage drop at the load, but that is not much better than 12AWG at 4.1%. So why pick this heavier cord? By being heavier it will be more durable in any length so if you are rough on cords you may get more life out of these. In the six foot length I am reviewing there is a negligible difference in voltage drop and even at 100ft and 15A the 1.5% difference in voltage drop between 12AWG and 10AWG may not be enough to matter. My 6ft cord does provide an excellent example of the quality built into these cords. If you find yourself needing to connect multiple cords end to end for a long reach that is the time this cord will really shine. We all know to avoid connecting extension cords end to end but when you get long heavy cords the weight starts to matter. I don’t see weight data in the product listing so I weighed my 6ft cord and saw 1.4lbs and extrapolated that to the other lengths, again in a picture chart. A 100ft FSTSN 10AWG extension cord is going to weigh around 23lbs so buying and deploying a 250ft cord of similar size might become a bit daunting.In conclusion, this cord makes sense when the extra durability is helpful or if you need to run high current for long distances. Otherwise 12AWG will probably be just fine for your application.
