So here's the situation if you want an easy way to install deck rails or pergola rails or fence rails...These decorative joist hangars are great - Especially if you dont have the second set of hands to install. Clean to install and super helpful as a DIY person. Install one and insert board in span, level, mark and install the other. perfect and forgiving fit. You will be well served buying a nut driver - wink wink company that makes these - please include... Decorative, structural and very useful in a fast and acurate install. I used 1-1/4 " screws to install to posts but company includes hex head screws for that purpose. Make sure your gap when you install accomodates the borad width you are installing. Super pleased and would definayely buy again.

Always working on random projects and this is something I Just keep in my tool bench just for when the time arrives. The fact it conceals about metal and holds the joist works well. Instead of doing a kreg on it and wearing out after a while. The metal is the key on it. comes with enough screws for use but I will probably be upgrading to decking screws when needed. Durability on the metal is on the lighter side but it will do its job. no one is going to be hanging from it. Makes installation a breeze. easy product to use with minimal tools or skill needed. good value compared to cheaper alternatives at the big hardware stores.
