I put these louvers on my back porch on the western exposure to help shield the porch from the afternoon summer sun. It helped block the intense heat, yet allowed light and the breeze in. It also shielded me from the neighbors. I can adjust the angle of the louvers to adjust the light. Fully closed, and there is no direct sunshine that breaks through. Full opened allows maximum light and air movement to create a bright and airy space. I love these louvers. Simple enough installation, although there was a good deal of woodworking to create the louver slats and the frame to house them. The kit comes with all necessary hardware. The metal parts have a nice black matte powder coat finish which should, with care, prevent rust. Stainless steel screws will help keep the rust at bay as well. The finished project looks great and sure adds privacy to the porch. Affordable kit.

I recently received this metal louver bracket kit and am using it as part of our new home build where we are creating a privacy wall underneath our raised pylon home. We plan to use the area below the house as a hangout space as well as for parking and storage, so we wanted something that would provide privacy while still allowing air to circulate. I really like that this kit allows us to build the louver system ourselves because we can choose the exact lumber, stain color, and finished size that best fits our project. The brackets feel solid and well made, and the metal construction should hold up well outdoors. The finish appears durable, and all of the pieces arrived straight with no bends or defects. I like that this kit can accommodate up to 11 boards, allowing us to build a substantial privacy wall while still maintaining airflow through the louvers. The hardware fit together well, and the instructions were easy to follow. Since my husband is an electrician and we have done many projects ourselves, we found the assembly process simple and liked how easily the louvers could be adjusted. My only disappointment is that each individual slat has to be adjusted by hand. There is not a mechanism that allows all of the louvers to open or close at the same time. For the privacy wall we are building, this is not an issue because I can easily reach each board. However, I do not think this design would work as well for a pergola roof where the louvers would be overhead and much more difficult to reach. I would have preferred some type of lever, rod, or rope system that would allow all of the slats to be adjusted together. Once assembled, everything felt sturdy and operated smoothly. I also like that if we ever decide to change the appearance, we can simply replace the wood boards without having to purchase another hardware kit. For the quality of the brackets, ease of assembly, and flexibility to customize the finished project, I feel this is a very good value for walls but may look at a different system for a ceiling project.

Metal Louver Bracket Kit Review:This looks like a really well-made bracket kit. I am going to have to build out a frame for it rather than using it directly on my porch because the wood for the screening doesn't allow for the depth this would require. That's okay, I knew I'd have to do that, but because this is such a project, my health is so poor and money is tight, this project will have to wait.I get really excited just imagining it because we could use some extra privacy and, at times, a wind block on one side of our porch (it's less about wind and more about smoke from a nearby grill). I don't think it will be difficult to install, but I will try to source the wood for cheap or free.Keep in mind that 6 inch wide lengths of wood are recommended and that the louvers adjust by hand...so that's you adjusting each slat by hand unless you work something else out. I'm really jazzed about these.
