These are nice and sturdy, basically the same as many other similar plastic "Old work" ceiling boxes I've used over the years.The price per unit around $3-4 seems fair / about the same as what you'd get at a big box store (not necessarily a pricier but more convenient local hardware store tho).The grounding lug could be handy, maybe especially to save a wee bit of space in a crowded box, or a tiny bit of install time. Enjoy the ROUND OPENING version as a typical hole saw works quicker than attempting to cut out a square.These are plastic with a 'grounding tab'.Do NOT use these to bare the weight of the fan!You must still have appropriate distribution for that.I ended up removing this and using the 4-pack in my office for LED puck lights instead.

These junction boxes are perfectly fine, but they’re priced like they’re the star of the electrical aisle instead of something destined to live behind drywall for the rest of their lives. You get twelve identical plastic boxes with nails already attached. You also get a lot of versatility -- as long as your idea of versatility is “installable anywhere you can swing a hammer without hitting your thumb.”They’re easy to use. You hold the box against the stud, you swing the hammer, and the box politely agrees to stay there. The cable openings actually let wires in without a wrestling match, which counts as exceptional connectivity in the glamorous world of residential wiring. They support the usual AWG sizes, so you’re not stuck wondering whether your cable is too fancy for the box.They’re sturdy, UL‑listed, and fire‑rated, which is reassuring even though no one will ever see them again unless they’re doing repairs or exploring your walls like a raccoon with a dream. Once installed, they sit quietly, hold your devices without wobble, and never complain — the ideal personality for a junction box.They’re good boxes. They just cost more than good boxes should. If the price ever drops to something that doesn’t make you question your budget for plastic rectangles, I’d recommend them.

I like electrical boxes like these because they are so easy to install. Position where you want it, hammer in the two nails, and you have a solidly mounted box. Stick a screwdriver through any of the openings in the back to break the tabs, then slide your wire in. Simple and effective.I've used a lot of boxes of this type, and these are as good as any. No better and no worse. They are the exact standard size, slightly tapered so they are smaller in the back than in the front, making for a perfect fit. This is especially appreciated if you need to slip it through a drywall cutout after removing the nails. It's the perfect size after using a multi-tool cutout tool on drywall. These are intended for new work not old work, but if you remove the nails and put it against a stud, you can then drill holes in the side and secure it to the stud with drywall screws, after removing the nails. So it's more versatile than just new work.Outlet or switches screw securely into the two screw holes. There are slightly raised edges on the front.

These 1 gang 18 cubic inch new work electrical boxes have been great on the remodel I am currently working on. I installed several of them and had zero issues with fit or quality.They look and feel just like the ones you would buy at Home Depot or any major hardware store. The plastic is sturdy, the mounting tabs are strong, and the knockouts are clean and easy to remove. Installation went quickly and everything lined up perfectly with standard studs and drywall.The price is very fair and noticeably lower than big box store pricing which makes stocking up a smart move. I will definitely be buying more of these as I go through them on future projects.If you are doing any new construction or remodel work these are a reliable and cost-effective choice.

ETL and UL listed is a good place to start. These old/new work boxes have integrated cable clamps and turn-out support wings that make them extremely easy to install. The only feature not mentioned is what weight fixture they can support, but I've seen lesser designs rated for up to 50 lbs. (well beyond any of the newer LED fixtures you see these days) so I've no doubt this will work just fine with anything reasonable like say 20 lbs. or less.Comparing these to the same featured boxes in a similar quantity from local home center stores and trade suppliers these are a much better value for the money, and you may do even better than that if you have an Amazon business account. Tough to beat a better quality product being delivered right to my door in less than 48 hrs. for the best price. Yeah, what's not to love?These are also stamped with the maximum number or wires information that too many of these import boxes omit. Experience will keep the pro's straight, but sometimes us make pretend electricians need a little reminder, without having to look it up. The actual design of these boxes also gives them a sturdier feel overall, thanks in part to the back casting as well as the sturdier face ring. Just a good quality decently priced box all around.

These are surprisingly good electrical boxes for new rough-ins. They feel every bit as high in quality as any box you get at a big home improvement store. They are packed tight in the box ready to be put to use with good nails in place and decently heavy grade plastic. The only reason for 4 stars is the cost - you can get these individually at the same or lower price so buying a set of 12 should be less than these.
