Mortise Lock Set for Interior Door

First off I did not get this for its intended function of a device to open a door. For that I’m sure it’s great. I got this because it fits the aesthetic of my apartment building which is a 1930s art deco former hotel turned luxury apartments. I’m putting together a gallery wall of old photos of the building when it was a hotel, as well as of the neighborhood from that same time period, however, I’m limited on space so most things in this hallway have to be multi purpose multi use. This handle both fits the aesthetic I’m going for as well as the function I will use it for - a whimsical “wall hook” for my umbrellas since this gallery wall is in my entryway.The quality of this thing is great. I can’t yet speak to the installation or the stability of this thing, but from what I can tell this is one solid piece of hardware. The included skeleton keys are a nice touch as well.

I'm absolutely in love with this doorknob set! We just moved into a century house with all of these older style door knobs in my skinny doors. All of the doors have the correct cutouts for these, but not all of them have all of the pieces still. I was able to use this set to complete some plates and a knob that I have in the bedroom, and then the handles went to a different door that needed handles. Everything worked with the same sizing, so old and new were quite compatible. The key does not work the same as my other keys, which I guess is actually a bonus since it really is specific to the lock. The bright yellow is a bit cheesy looking next to real tarnish brass, but I appreciate the lightweight aluminum and the satin finish, and the cassette on the inside of the lock is very nice quality. It was super easy to install and I'm looking forward to having a functioning door for another hundred years to come.

This mortise lock set was the finishing touch on a little design mission happening throughout my home: the matte black treatment. The front bedroom door was the last holdout, and after replacing the knobs which are not designed to lock, with this one, I can officially say the mission is complete.And what a finish!The matte black hardware against my white wooden paneled door is stunning. The contrast immediately gives the door more character, and the vintage styling feels decorative without becoming overly ornate. I especially love the curved escutcheon plates, classic knobs, and antique-style skeleton key. Together, they turn something as ordinary as door hardware into an actual design feature.That's what I appreciate about a product like this. Yes, a lock has a practical job to do, but there is absolutely no reason it cannot look fabulous while doing it. Replacing older interior hardware can make a surprisingly noticeable difference to a room, particularly when the new finish creates this much contrast.The lock looks lovely, suits the character of the paneled door beautifully, and completes the look I wanted throughout my home. Additionally, it becomes a room that can actually be locked.Last door. Matte black treatment complete. Real intentional lock...and I couldn't have asked for a better finale.

I ordered this to replace and update an old lock set in our cabin and the hardware matched the size perfectly. Out of the box it looks great, the oil rubbed bronze finish is really pretty but all the parts are very lightweight and thin so I don’t think the quality is as good as the old one. Since our door had an old mortise lock set, installation was an easy swap but after feeling how light the parts are I decided to refinish the old lock instead. Also it’s not the exact same shape so the old finish shows and we don’t want to refinish the door. While this was installed it did work smoothly and the lock worked as expected. If it’s going on a new door this would look great and the price is reasonable.

This mortise locking mechanism set has a beautiful antique brass finish that gives an interior door a classic vintage appearance. The curved escutcheon plates and skeleton key design add a lot of character and look especially nice on older or traditionally styled doors. The set feels well made, and the 2 3/8 inch backset is a useful standard size for many applications. It is a reasonably priced way to replace worn hardware while adding a distinctive decorative touch.

These are rather beautiful knobs both in style and finish. I plan to put them on my bedroom door as a design statement. My house in almost 200 years old, and all the locks are too modern looking. Pretty soon I need to replace all the locksets on my house and I may go with this antique bronze for everything. I have replaced locks all my life since it was my fathers business. I'm sure to get these to work on my room door will involve some carpentry, but that's ok. I love the skeleton key!

I absolutely love the vintage aesthetic of this mortise lock set! I bought it to bring some antique charm into my home reading/study room, and visually, it completely delivered. The oil-rubbed bronze finish has these beautiful subtle copper/bronze edges that look high-end and rustic without looking fake. The skeleton key is a super fun touch and it actually works smoothly to lock and unlock the door, which makes me feel like I’m living in a historic cottage.That being said, if you are a beginner like me, you definitely need to know what you are getting into before buying this. A mortise lock is not a standard modern doorknob swap where you just twist a few screws into a pre-made round hole. This requires carving a deep, rectangular pocket right into the side of the door to house that big metal box mechanism. Because it takes a lot of careful measuring and quite a bit of wood carving, I'm glad I had a specialized tool on hand to help me get the edges flush, otherwise I would have totally butchered my door.Once it is finally installed, it feels heavy, sturdy, and operates flawlessly. It completely transformed the look of my hallway. Just be prepared for a bit of a projects-and-patience install process if you are putting it on a brand new door! All parts were included and it's a decent price for the antique feel!
