Outdoor Electrical Box Waterproof

I actually ordered this two pack of outdoor outdoor electrical waterproof boxesjust for the larger of the two electrical waterproof boxes. I have had a similar box by my patio door the past couple of years to handle some electronics outside there in winter, but I wanted another one for the front of the house to put a surge protector in, for the electrical connections I’m putting out there. In the winter, i have cords for my HeatTrak mats, and a heated kitty house. I had a little bit of a delay in writing this reviewbecause the initial surge protector that I already had on hand didn’t quite fit with the lines connected. There is a little bit of finesse that needs to happen to get the plugs and the chords to fit nicely, and sometimes that involves the surge protector spacing of the outlets. But I did find one now that I like that fits and this box will not work well for what I want it for.I have not used the medium size outdoor electrical box yet, but I believe I will be able to find a use forward with my Christmas lights in a month or two. That one is considerably smaller than the larger one and again I’ll have to go through my surge protectors to see which one will work best in it.I delayed putting the review out because I really wanted to have both of the boxes in use before I reviewed, I’d rather than put it off. I wanted to comment on how much I liked the first box I set up. Overall, I think these outdoor electrical boxes are very useful in protecting some expensive equipment connections.. It makes a huge difference in the amount of protection, especially in our location where we have snow and a lot of other inclement weather. I have used just outdoor rated surge protectors before alone without a protective box, and sometimes they stopped working after only a year because of moisture no matter how hard I try to position them. Having this box which encloses the actual connection and then keeps inside of the box fairly waterproof because of the rubber gaskets going around the cords just provides an extra level of protection versus the outdoor surge protector only.The material on these boxes is a heavy duty plastic. I like the light gray color because it doesn’t stand out so much against the cement that it’s sitting on. It does corral the lines into one place making it a little less of a visible jumble, and that is a bonus besides the fact that it’s protecting the connections.It is useful that the cords can go out multiple sides of this outdoor electrical box. I have an older outdoor electrical box and all of the cords are going out must go out the same side, which makes it a little tricky to set up the cords on the surge protector inside.I did not mount mine. I just have it just sitting on the porch. Although it does appear there is a mounting mechanism for this box, if you need that option. I think getting two of these boxes is a great value and I’m sure I will use the other one now that I have it. I just have not gotten organized enough yet to get that one set up.Overall, I think this is a good value for two outdoor electrical boxes and I am glad I ordered them. These were just under $33 when I ordered and I see they’ve dropped in price at this point so they’re even a better deal value. I can recommend using a box like this to protect your electrical connections outside.

I've purchased several outdoor waterproof electrical boxes from other brands over the years, and while they worked, I always found the lids difficult to close or they never seemed to seal quite right. These Yecaye boxes are a noticeable improvement. They feel sturdier and more durable, and the lids open and close smoothly while still creating a secure, weather-resistant seal.I also like that they come as a two-pack with both a large and medium-sized box, making them useful for different projects.So far, the one I've installed has performed great. I'm currently using it to power an automatic coop door and security camera for my hens while I finish building their permanent coop and run with underground power. It was quick to set up and has given me confidence that my electrical connections are protected from the elements.Overall, I'm very happy with these boxes and would definitely purchase them again for future outdoor electrical projects.

With many inflatable Christmas decorations, I find myself needing to secure those tiny power supplies from the snow that will inevitably come. This is a wonderful tool for that.It keeps your items off the ground and out of direct snow rain or snow shovel damage. It allows you to put many devices with the proper power strip in one location so that it does not move around and get lost in the driftThe power cord can enter from any side and here I have a three position one with just one of my power inflatables plugged in. With a different size power strip, this could work better for your situation. Shown is the medium version where the large is probably double the size. The little one is great for Christmas lights or maybe plug in animals in your yard where you could have different things and a smaller plug. The adapter does take up quite a bit of room in the smaller size caseThe larger one is functionally similar to this with easy to use latches and routing of cables. Plenty of choices to come out in different directions based on your specific needs. Does include outdoor mounting screws and brackets that are non-penetrating so that the case stays mostly watertight. There are no stakes or holes on the side which I was hoping to see so that I could securely place it on the ground and not accidentally get it moved when I shovel or have the snow blower running.Overall, it's a great improvement over my previous method of putting it in a bucket upside down on a piece of wood.

There's one particular thing about this enclosure I consider to be very different than most - the color, which is grey and which is why I ordered it Why is that? Read on.I already have an outdoor electrical box for a couple of cameras and being an electrical engineer (and also having a lightning strike directly to our house), I know the importance of a surge protectors. But a surge protectors have electronics in them. Having a black or dark green enclosure, baking in a hot summer sun, can cause the temperature in the enclosure to skyrocket which is something most consumer electronics are not too fond of. A grey box should at least minimizes that issue somewhat, white would be even better.Now that I got that out of the way, on to the test. I placed an extension cord in both boxes, grabbed the garden hose, and gave it a real life soaking with it placed on the ground and spraying from different direction. Good news is it stayed dry on the inside. I should add, I did not test vertically but there are seals inside the lip of the box. I should mention to prevent water intrusion around the cables, the cables really need to be centered in the opening so that the seals can do their intended job. The box has a IP54 water rating which in a nutshell, protects from dust and splash resistance. I consider it more of 'weatherproof than 'waterproof'. IP54 is not rated for direct rain.Lastly, and I'm probably nit-picking, but I didn't see any fire rating for the box. While I buy fire resistant surge protectors, I want the added protection of knowing if something bad happens inside the box, it will help minimize it spreading (this is due to my experience of the lightning strike I mentioned above). This will also affect the placement of the box near the house. Also, and this is true for any outdoor box, cables should have a 'dip' (a low spot) in them so if by chance water does sneak in, it won't run into an outlet, surge protector etc. It ideally will drip and not cause any harm. Same holds true for wires going into the box, water on a wire should run away from the box, not towards it.Advertising it's waterproof, despite surviving a soaking with the hose is confusing. It is rated for IP54 afterall. In the end, that affected the number of stars.

I have regular 12V power supplies, like those for laptops, repurposed to run my 12V flame lights that I mounted inside old solar light housings I had. Even though I wrapped up the power supplies in Menards bags, they still failed about every other year. I got this box to end that hassle of hooking up new power adapters. This is solid and water-resistant, and I was able to run the power cords in the slots without issue, though getting thicker gauge wires to seat perfectly into the rubber seals does take a little wiggling to get right. Keep in mind this has to be mounted in a splash-proof area, not a submersible one. Since a great value came with the two-pack, now I am looking at other options to light up around the backyard!
