This 16 AWG wire from MakerCircuit is a pleasure to work with. The high 252 strand count coupled with the super soft silicone insulation enables this wire to be easily routed in places that would be difficult for more common 16AWG wires. The tin coating on the individual strands helps to diminish corrosion and oxidation while also making the wire exceptionally easy to solder. For someone just beginning to learn how to properly solder, this wire would be an excellent choice to learn with as it is high quality wire that easily solders and is available at a very affordable price. The kit comes with six approximately 12 foot lengths of wire, each a different color and wound on individual reels, and also includes colored zip ties and heat shrink.

This is nice wire, strips nicely and appears to be genuine copper and has the pliability I expect from silicone insulation.I do lots of little repairs and DIY projects, and while I often save lots of wire off things I take apart, sometimes it is nice to have a roll of nice, new wire. This should last me a while and save me time looking for the right piece of wire. The price seems fair to me.

This is a nice little assortment of 16 AWG silicone hookup wire. It comes in a tidy dispenser box with individual feeder holes, which makes it much easier to pull out only what you need without immediately turning the whole thing into a tangled mess. For bench work and small electronics projects, that kind of packaging is genuinely useful.I like 16 AWG for a lot of low-voltage wiring because it’s still easy to work with, but it’s heavy enough that voltage drop stays pretty minimal for a lot of common hobby and DIY applications. Obviously the right wire gauge depends on current draw and cable length, but 16 AWG is a good all-around size for a lot of electronics, battery-powered projects, and general hookup work. The silicone insulation is also a big plus. It’s much more flexible than the stiffer PVC-insulated wire you often see in cheap assortments, so it routes more cleanly in tight spaces and is generally just nicer to strip, solder, and manage. The multiple colors are useful too, especially once a project gets more complicated than a simple two-wire run. Being able to separate power, ground, signal, switched lines, etc. by color makes troubleshooting a lot easier later and helps keep wiring from turning into a mystery bundle. I do enough little electronics and power-related projects that having a small assortment like this on hand is genuinely convenient. The included heat shrink tubing and cable ties are also a nice bonus. They’re not the main reason to buy the kit, but they’re exactly the kind of accessories you often end up needing once you start wiring something up anyway, so it’s nice to have them included in the same box.Overall, this is a solid little wire kit. Good gauge for a lot of general-purpose low-voltage work, nice flexibility thanks to the silicone insulation, useful color assortment, and thoughtful packaging that makes it easy to keep organized on the bench.
