Good performance from a cobalt HSS drill bit, I'm impressed at how well it holds up to very aggressive drilling. I recently needed to drill a 1 inch hole through 1/2 steel on an excavator and it did an amazing job. The bit held it's edge very well and it's still sharp after ten minutes of continual drilling.I recommend drilling a pilot hole or center punching the material before drilling with this larger bit, it does a decent job at staying on center but it can walk a little if your drilling by hand. The bit doesn't include flat surfaces on the shank and I've had several instances where it slipped in the chuck, just really need to tighten the chuck to keep it from slipping. The bit has a 135 degree split point and measures at just under 1 inch diameter.Overall it's an impressive drill bit and I've used it several times in different hardness steel, highly recommended.
