This floor gap iron works like advertised. I tried the suction type and did not work even using tape . It would pull the tape from under the suction cups and no grip to move the floor section together

This floor gap repair tool made a job that I was expecting to be a huge hassle surprisingly easy. The tool feels heavy-duty and well made, and the non-slip base stays put while you’re working. It gives you plenty of leverage to pull boards back into place without having to fight with them.I really like that the kit includes the rubber mallet, extra reusable pad, and felt pads. Having everything you need in one kit is much more convenient than having to piece everything together separately.It worked really well for getting stubborn gaps closed, and the reusable design means it’s something I can keep around for future flooring projects. This floor gap repair tool did exactly what I needed it to do. It's heavy enough to transfer force effectively, and the non-slip base grips the floor well without causing damage. Ive tried a bunch of different methods including taping blocks to the floor and those never work right. This does!The build quality is solid, and it feels like a tool that will last for years. It's simple to use and much easier than trying to improvise with scraps of wood or other makeshift methods.If you have floating floors that have started to separate, this is definitely a worthwhile tool to keep on hand.

The first thing I noticed when unboxing this is that it is made from sturdy metal and not light plastic. The mallet that came with it is really nice. This device works by sticking to the floor rather than using a suction mechanism. You need to use some downward pressure to keep it in place while you tap the end with the mallet. Make sure your flooring is clean or you will not get good adhesion. It comes with one replacement sticky pad, but I did not see anything in the packaging about where to order extra pads or the cost of those. I'm not sure how long a sticky pad will last before needing replaced. It seems like it should be a little cheaper for something so simple. The suction types of gap tools are cheaper. I have never used the suction type so I can't say if this one works better or not. It is easy to use and fits comfortable in the hand when holding it down to tap with the mallet. It should last a long time as long as you can find replacement pads.

This tool is very helpful in dealing with laminate floors that are beginning to have gaps between boards. If you have experienced this issue, you'll understand the frustration. Not only does this look bad, it may also cause pain when walking across these gaps.The tool comes with 2 reusable sticky pads and a rubber hammer. Using the device is simple and straight forward. The provided instructions also do an adequate job of showing you the process. Basically, make sure you have a plan as, each time you close a gap you will open another on the other end of that board. Just take off the plastic cover of the sticky pad, press firmly down on the orange handle, and hit the rubber mallet against the angled upper part of the tool handle. It will take multiple taps to move the flooring. It is best not to hit the handle too hard or try to move too much at once otherwise, you can end up with a misaligned end. After a few taps, the gaps will begin to close. That is all there is to the process. With this in mind, I found the tool functional and easy to use. The solid steel of the device should last a long time without breaking. This is also small enough to store easily but large enough to do a good job.This is an affordable and helpful tool to keep your laminate floors looking good.

I recently got one of the suction-cup style floor gap repair tools because it looked clever and high-tech—and thought it would solve my floor gap problem. Unfortunately, my luxury vinyl flooring has a subtle wood-grain texture with micro-grooves, and the suction cup wouldn’t grip it at all. I spent far more time fighting the tool than fixing the floor.This tool takes the opposite approach. No suction cups. No complicated setup. No drama. I opened the box, found the floor gap, peeled off the protective film from the adhesive pad, stuck the tool down, gave it a few whacks with the included mallet, and the gap disappeared.Of course, like most floating floors, closing one gap simply moved it upstream. So I went to the first plank, repeated the process, and closed everything up properly. The entire job took less than 5 minutes—and every time I hear someone else say “it took only five minutes” I don’t believe them, since it generally takes that long to make the first trip to the garage. It literally took me less than five minutes from opening the box to having the repair completed, to putting the tool away in my garage.The included mallet actually works well, which was a pleasant surprise. The tool itself feels solid, and the adhesive pad held securely enough to transfer plenty of force without sliding around.The kit includes a spare adhesive pad, which is a nice touch. I did notice that the pad loses some stickiness after being removed and reused. It still worked for me the second time, just not quite as aggressively as when it was new. I'm not sure whether these pads can be cleaned and restored or if they're more like double-sided tape that eventually needs replacement. Fortunately, replacement pads appear to be readily available.Is it a little expensive for what is essentially a chunk of metal with a sticky pad? Maybe. But after wasting time with a more elaborate solution that didn't work on my flooring, I can honestly say this one is worth every penny.This is exactly why products like this exist: to turn a frustrating home-maintenance task into a five-minute job. For me, it delivered exactly that.

Not only do I install laminate flooring, but I also have to fix it as well. Sometimes these floors snap together and stay together very well. Other times they do not, usually because of an uneven substrate or just not being "clicked" into place very well. On most floors, this is not a big issue, but on high traffic floors the planks can become separated. The most common practice, as archaic as it sounds, it to use soft soled shoes and with a kicking motion, scuff your foot across the loose plank in the direction it needs to go a few times, and it should slide into place. This does not always cause the joint to click or lock into place. Here is where this "floor gap" tool really helps because you can do this repair with one person. The tool has a "sicky pad" on the bottom of it, place the tool about 2" from the joint and press firmly down on the tool. With the "provided" hammer (nice addition), apply a little downward pressure and tap the plank towards the joint. As it gets close, make sure that both sides of the joint are lined up and parallel to each other (you may need to kneel on the opposite plank to line things up" and tap until you see or hear the click/lock action. If successful, look down the row you just repaired to make sure that other joints did not come undone, if so, repeat the process. I have used other similar tools in the past but none with a sticky pad on it, this is a great idea but how many times will you be able to relocate the tool before the "sticky" no longer sticks. This is the only reason for my 3-star rating. You do get a second sticky pad with the tool, but if you are using this as a marketing pitch "Non-Slip Base" then at least offer a location where more pads can be purchased.
