On the positive side, it's also light enough to carry with my other tools without wondering why my tool bag suddenly weighs as much as an apprentice.Durability? For my own use, I expect it to survive quite a while. Now, if I dropped it onto a job site with a bunch of apprentices and told them, “Here, use this,” all bets are off. There are limits to what manufacturers can reasonably engineer against.So far, I haven’t had problems feeding it through conduit or pulling wire, which is ultimately what matters. I wouldn't confuse it with a premium professional fish tape, but it doesn't need to be one for every job.The price seems fair for what you get, and the engraved measurements add some practical value. It is light plastic but feels adequate for daily use. The handle and thumb lock seem noticeably cheap to me so I worry slightly about long term durability of the product overall. Feeding and retracting the cable is easy enough and the included gloves help protect your hands from the steel tape as you guide it and route it through your run.The 50 foot length is a good overall size for a homeowner or DIYer. I can also find similar quality 100' steel fish tapes locally for about a 25% less.Overall this is a decent quality tape that works well to help with cable and wiring routing. It performs as advertised. If you need a durable fish tape reel, and don't mind paying a premium for the laser etched distance label, this is a good choice. If budget is a concern, better values exist for similar quality products.
