I’m really impressed with this gate rod. The steel feels solid and heavy duty, so it feels rock solid once mounted. It fit my gate without any issues, and for the price the quality is great. It feels durable enough to withstand the elements and hold up for a very long time. This is a great buy if you need a reliable ground latch for your gate!

This is a solid cane bolt for my outdoor vinyl fence gate. I’m using it to hold my gate open while I work around the yard. The installation instructions were easy to understand and all of the parts were included. I do wish that the bolt had some way of not coming out of the brackets if you pull too far. The bolt already had a pre-drilled hole on the bottom end, so I just threaded an machine screw and nut. This prevented the bolt from coming out of the bracket. The cane bolt has been out in the Florida sun and rain for 2 months now. There are no signs of rust or corrosion. The black paint protects it very well. The size was good enough and functional for my use in keeping the gate open and it looks good on my gate.

So getting a bit nerdy the size of the rod is said to be 1/2". It was not. Super slightly under that but consistent through the entire rod enough to reflect that slight fib. I do not feel this would ever impact anything on the products performance given how slight it is.Everything else is solid as far as the brackets and the bars. Where it falls short is its mounting screws. Get your own. Paint grade or stain grade do not use the cheap screws that come with this kit. I would give it a few months before its going to be weeping rust on your nice finished fence. Grab what ever galvanized or stainless hardware you want to run and paint a finish on it before using what comes with the kit. And expect it to be a soft metal that will strip out with any sort of screw gun.Outside of that specific issue its fantastic. Great product at a solid price point. Just take a trip to your local hardware store to buy better screws and you will be happy with your purchase.

We have 10-foot-high by 8-foot-wide double doors on one of our greenhouses, and we use a drop rod to hold one of the doors in place. The rod we had before was much shorter, which meant leaning almost all the way down to the ground every time we wanted to open or close the doors. We make multiple trips in and out of the greenhouse every day, and at our age, that repeated bending matters. The 18-inch length on this cane bolt makes a surprisingly big difference. It is much easier to reach and operate without bending nearly as far.The rod itself feels heavy-duty and solid, and the mounting brackets hold it securely. The black coating looks good and should provide some protection from rust in the humid greenhouse environment. Installation was straightforward, although the included screws may be better suited for wood than some metal-door applications. This is a simple piece of hardware, but replacing our short drop rod with this longer one made our greenhouse doors noticeably more convenient to use. If you're opening a gate or large double doors several times a day, I definitely recommend the 18-inch version.

Holds my metal farm gate open in the wind. This is a good product and easy to install. If using on a metal tubular gate, I suggest using 10-24 x 2" machine screws with lock nuts. The included screws are probably ok for wood. I used 11/2" schedule 40 for the pin hole

Heavy duty, significantly nicer than the one included work my current gate we are replacing.

The cane bolt is nice and sturdy. When I built my shed, I didn't hang the doors perfectly, so they close automatically. So, I thought I could use this bolt to keep the door open. It works perfectly. I'm sure it'll work just as great on a gate, as it's intended. Hardware is included.
