I purchased this gate latch for the gate leading to my backyard chicken coop because I wanted something much stronger and more secure than the basic latch I was using before. After installing it, I can honestly say it's even more heavy-duty than I expected.The first thing I noticed was the build quality. The metal is thick, solid, and feels extremely durable. This isn't one of those lightweight latches that bends easily—it feels like it was built to last for many years outdoors.Installation was straightforward, and all the necessary hardware was included. Once mounted, everything lined up nicely, and the latch operated smoothly right from the start.One feature I really like is the two-way operation. Being able to open the gate from either side makes it much more convenient when I'm carrying feed, water buckets, or supplies into the chicken coop.The gravity latch works exactly as intended. It closes securely every time without having to fiddle with it, and the gate feels much more solid when it's latched. Great quality heavy duty gate latch for my goat pen. This thing is solid and built to last and comes with good sturdy hardware to install it. Having easy access and ease of latching the gate is worth the price. The latch was easy to install and looks great and it opens both directions smoothly.

Good points: This latch, as described by the seller, is truly "heavy duty." Itis very well made out of stout, thick steel. It shows an excellent level of craftsmanship. There are no sharp edges. The holes for the mounting screws are aligned and uniform. Care has been taken to made sure the welds are clean, uniform, and essentially all slag and splatter has been removed. The painted finish is applied well with no spots of no paint or a low amount of paint. It seems to be powder coated but I am not sure of that. The bars which hold the latch closed are easy to use (no binding) and keep the latch secure. I have a rural property with lots of tube steel gates which are now pushing nearly 40 years in age. Some of the gate latches have seen a better day. This latch has done an excellent job of retiring one of those old soldiers. It is very easy to install. The option of being able to secure the latch with a padlock is very nice and gives me peace of mind the gates will stay closed while I am away from the ranch.Weak points (sort of): The screws provided are of a good diameter but less than 2 inches inches in length. Because the gates are sometimes slammed shut and some are wide and heavy, I used longer screws to keep the latch securely in place for the long term. This is probably over engineering on my part. Also, there is no provision (meaning a hole) to lift the latching arms in the open position and lock them in that open position. Curing those two situations would deserve an upgrade to 5 stars.Bad points: None.A very good buy.

Really Simple Design. It provides a basic latching bi directional gate with a lock. Hardware is included, There are 4 Lags for mounting the latching portion to the post. The anti-sag design is nice to provide additional lift and support for the gate to keep the pressure off of the support post.I bought it before measuring my gate to post gap. As you can seen in my picture... There wasn't adequate room for the hardware. I do have some additional adjustability in the hinges studs on the post so we will see if I can get it to fit. Over all a great idea and good set up for man gates.I do have to wonder if some critters are smart enough to figure out how to open it. The design and material seem robust and durable. Hoping that it provides a long time of convenient use.NOTE: Gate nut size 14mm, Post lag head size 1/2"..

I installed this latch on an 8' farm gate, and overall I'm happy with how it performs. The steel construction feels solid, and the black finish gives it a clean appearance, and also matching the gate. Once installed, the latch operates smoothly from either side of the gate, which is much more convenient than a standard one-sided latch.The anti-sag design seems to do a good job of keeping the gate aligned and reducing play. Installation was straightforward with basic tools, although it's worth taking a little extra time to create a flat spot if you're attaching this to a round post.After using it for a couple weeks, the latch engages securely and hasn't shown any signs of bending or loosening. Time will tell how well the finish holds up to weather, but the hardware appears durable enough for outdoor use.Overall, this is a sturdy, functional gate latch that offers good value if you need a reliable two-way latch for a farm gate, fence gate, or similar outdoor application. I'd recommend it.

10 stars!!! I use dog kennel gates with this type of latch as the walk-through gates all around the farm. I had an unused gate end up laid-dow on on the ground and get lost under weeds and mud for a few years. While the gate is in great condition, the latch rusted badly and needs to be replaced. Sometimes with the vine program, something you want must be chosen quickly if you really want it so I claimed this latch, very excited to get that gate back into working order.When it arrived . . . it was bigger than expected. Way too big for that kennel gate. BUT I AM SO EXCITED!!! It's that same kind of latch I like and have already incorporated for easy one-handed operation at all the walk-through gates. But this one is scaled up to work for our DRIVE-THROUGH GATES!!! No more chains and clips--I intend to switch EVERY drive through gate on the farm and RV lots to these gate latches!I know I used a lot of exclaimation points above but using these instead of constantly fumbling with chains and clips is a full-on game changer for me. These latches make going through multiple gates quick and easy, especially when carrying a bag of feed, leading large livestock on leads, or otherwise only having one hand available while trying to keep everyone on their side of the fence.I definitely want more and recommend them!

I installed this 2-way gate latch for my 14' round tube farm gate that spans my driveway. Over time, the gate has started to sag from its own weight and from people climbing on it. I kept having to bend it back up into place, which isn’t good for the gate. This latch holds the weight of the gate when it’s closed, fixing the sagging issue. I can even climb over the gate while it’s latched without causing the gate to bend or sag.Installation is straightforward. It comes with the hardware and braces needed to fit round‑tube gates between 1‑3/4" and 2", and it requires a 2" clearance between the post and gate, so be sure to measure ahead of time. I positioned the "pin" half of the latch to a place on the gate where a horizontal round tube joins the vertical round tube with one bolt above the horizontal pipe and one below. This prevents it from potentially spinning on the vertical pipe if the gate were ever slammed into. I also replaced the provided carriage bolts with grade 5 bolts for extra strength, just in case, but probably not necessary.This is a heavy-duty gate latch that's built very strong and can take a lot of punishment. The rust resistant finish is excellent. It's very simple to install and operate. The two‑way design makes it easy to open the gate from either direction with one hand. It latches automatically from either direction—just swing the gate shut and the latch will secure it. To open, lift one of the sliding handles on the side you want it to open to and push the gate. It also has a spot for a padlock, making it easy to lock securely. I recommend lubricating the slide handles in freezing weather to prevent them from icing up.This latch really impressed me with its design, function and build quality and it's definitely an excellent value for the money and should last for a very long time without any issues and will extend the life of your gate.
