Excellent smart thermostat with great app — remote sensor no longer available

[Style: EHVC513]
Installation was straightforward after reading all the materials thoroughly. My previous thermostat did not use the C wire, so it was pushed into the wall behind the thermostat and not connected at the furnace. Knowing my home was fairly modern, I figured the wire was probably there, and I found it at both ends easily enough. While connecting the C wire at the furnace, I accidentally disconnected the W wire, so my air conditioner would not start and I had to troubleshoot that issue. Once the wiring was set at both ends, connecting to the internet was straightforward using the SmartLife app. It uses Bluetooth to configure the network, and then the device simply works—even automatically gets the correct time and date.I noticed immediately that this thermostat does a much better job of maintaining the temperature than the old one. Being able to remotely start and stop the fan and adjust the temperature is surprisingly useful! I work from home, so I am not using any of the scheduling features. Switching modes (heat/cool/auto) in the app tends to revert to default settings, which is kind of a pain, so I leave it in auto.NOTE: The product text used to promote a remote sensor feature (that text has been removed recently), and there is still a picture of the remote sensor on the package as well as a cardboard insert to hold it. However, the remote sensor is not included and can no longer be purchased. The manufacturer says it can no longer obtain the needed chips to build the sensors and is looking for replacements. If you do not have a C wire, the external adapter is likewise not included in the box, though it is discussed at length in the documentation.Overall, I think this thermostat is an excellent value for the money. The app integration is first-rate, and I appreciate that it uses the same app as many of the other smart devices in my home. I am happy with my purchase overall, though I really did want the remote sensor for my second floor.

I have a dual fuel system. Propane and a heat pump. My T-9 Honeywell did not work for this system.I bought this EdgeAnt thermostat and it worked perfect. You use email to communicate if you have a problem. The WIFI hooked up quickly, no problem. I am very happy with this product.Dan E.

Something was just not right

Easy to install and looks nice with great features. The app was simple to navigate. My only issue with installing is that I have an “E” wire and was not sure where it goes. I emailed support but after nearly 2 weeks with no response I gave up. Since the E wire is for emergency heat I left it unattached for now. My old thermostat was still close by and I noticed several degree difference between the two. I had it set to 77, it would go down to 72 before it kicked off. Quickly back up to 78 and the cycle would repeat. Over the period of several days it seemed like my air was running much more than usual even though the outdoor temps were lower. I switch this thermostat out with my old one and my system runs like it used too. This may have been something that could have been resolved, but due to the lack of support, I don’t believe it will be.
