DIN rail implementation of an important functionDIN rail implementation of an important function

I use this to improvise an uninterruptible power supply that switches to a battery backup from a low-voltage power supply on utility power. The switch meets all its specification for DIN rail mounting, automatic transfer action, number of poles, and amp capacity. The screw terminals are entirely adequate for the job. I could not follow the logic of when the switch automatically activates. The transfer switch did activate, but not as I expected, when the utility source shut off. Reversing the connections also did not result in the operation I expected. My expectations or understanding are likely at fault, not the device itself.

This Pjerjzn 2P 63A 220 ATS Volt features the same quality, durable, nylon case build as the other Pjerjzn hardware I have used for other projects. They haven’t let me down so far and there is no indication that they will anytime soon! The terminals are identified and clearly marked, and the openings are large enough for heavier gauge wire. The manual front switch gives you control, and the indicator bars show you the status immediately. It is mounted easily with the included Din rail, and its compact size takes up minimum box space. I will be using it in manual mode along with a small inverter generator to power my propane boiler and well pump in case the grid and my other two backups fail for any reason. Those are two things you cannot be without where I am, as temps and winter wind chills can be -20 or more for several days, and an extended power outage can be seriously bad news!

Useful Automatic Transfer Switch for Generator and Backup Power Applications

I am upgrading my generator station. So I got this automatic transfer switch for a backup power project where I wanted a cleaner way to switch between the normal utility source and a secondary power source. For the price, this is a surprisingly useful little device and offers a lot more flexibility than manually moving connections around whenever backup power is needed.The unit feels reasonably solid, and the DIN-rail style design makes it convenient to integrate into an appropriately sized electrical enclosure. I also like that it is available in configurations intended for switching multiple conductors, which can be important depending on how the electrical system and backup source are designed.Once properly installed, the biggest benefit is convenience. When the primary power source is unavailable, the switch can transfer the connected load to the alternate source and then return it when normal power is restored. For a generator, inverter, or other properly configured backup source, that can make a backup-power installation much easier to use.The 63A rating also gives it enough capacity for a variety of applications, although I would definitely recommend sizing the actual connected load conservatively rather than simply assuming everything can be run at the maximum advertised rating.I used this as part of a dedicated backup-power setup rather than trying to transfer an entire house. For applications such as a selected-load subpanel, networking equipment, refrigeration, lighting, cameras, or other important circuits, an automatic transfer arrangement can be very convenient.Installation is where I would emphasize caution. This is not really a plug-and-play product. There are multiple power sources involved, and correct wiring, overcurrent protection, grounding, neutral handling, generator configuration, and conductor sizing all matter.
