This ceiling medallion measures accurately, has the exact design as pictured in the listing, and is primed and ready for painting. It sat in a corner for weeks, until the project we got it for was ready to be completed, and then we hung this on the ceiling and installed the little light we wanted this to frame. The first thing we noticed is that this is easy to set in place, easy to install, and easy to patch after installation, but it's not perfect until you use a bit of caulking around it to hide the gap between its inner edge and your light fixture if there is even a tiny edge in there for light to hit and highlight. Ours had a gap of practically nothing, but there was enough of a height difference for light to highlight it and make it look huge, and so we used caulk and repainted, and then it was perfect.The thickness of the medallion is suitable for a light fixture, but only if the light fixture is either lower-set than the medallion or hung on a chain from the center of the medallion. Otherwise, you see a strange gap, and that's not something caulking and painting could fix. The overall appearance after painting is very high-end and it's indistinguishable from a solid-wood medallion we have in another room, because it has a perfectly smooth surface and the details are perfectly cast with no flaws. Once it was painted, it looked flawless, and I'd recommend this as a wonderful budget alternative to a solid-wood medallion.After our project was done, it was clear to me that this is a five-star option. It's cheaper, but not cheap in quality, and it can be patched if you nick it while working (which I did), and it's identical to a wooden medallion once you paint it. It really looks the same as a higher-end and more expensive option, and that's the definition of five-stars in our house. This is a great option for decorating on a budget.

This ceiling medallion is quite thick and sturdy. Enough so that having it warp would not be a concern. Even though this is the case, it is not heavy at all. It does not have screw holes or anything to install it, instead it gets held up by whichever fixture goes in front of it. It is nice and wide, allowing covering of uneven holes or damage from previous fixtures to be covered. It seems as though it is possibly made out of plaster or something similar.Notes:✅ Should be sanded: The surface of this product is unfinished and needs to be sanded if you want a smooth finish. This is something they should have probably mentioned in the listing.✅ Paintable: This surface is paintable, with an unfinished surface that has a lot of pores that would take paint well.❌ Should be used without painting: The surface on this product is unfinished and is porous with no sealants. While it COULD be used without painting, it would absorb moisture and any dirt and so forth, meaning it would eventually dirty and potentially start to degrade.Overall, if you are looking for a decent looking item that definitely has that old-world aesthetic, as well as being nice and solid without being heavy, and are willing to put a little bit of work in to make it as finished as you would like- I think this product is a worthwhile purchase.

I'm in the process of redecorating my house, and am replacing all of the standard ceiling "boob" lights. I don't want to have to paint all of my ceilings, so I've been in the lookout for ceiling medallions for some of my new light fixtures.A lot of medallions are very intricate, which is not what I wanted. In my living room I'm hanging a fixture with a linen drum with black trim. I plan to paint this medallion black to coordinate with the black metal portion that affixes to the ceiling.This arrived in excellent condition. It was carefully packaged. It has a beaded trim, and this was in good condition. There are some minor imperfections, but these won't be noticable once this has been painted and installed on the ceiling. I'm not quite ready to use this yet so I don't have a photo of it installed, but I did included close up photos.I'm so pleased with this that I'm ordering another for use in my bedroom, which is the next fixture I'm replacing.

Exactly What I Was Looking ForThis ceiling medallion was exactly what I wanted for my lighting project. It's bright white, crisp, and beautifully detailed without looking overly ornate. Once installed around my light fixture, it instantly gave the room a more finished and custom appearance.I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it's made from a lightweight foam material that still looks high-end once painted and installed. Installation was much easier than working with heavier traditional materials, and the quality exceeded my expectations. It arrived in excellent condition and fit perfectly around my ceiling fixture. A great way to add architectural interest without spending a fortune.

This ceiling medallion is a nice addition to your ceiling fan or ceiling light. The reason I took a star off is due to it not being that sturdy or adorable as it is simply foam and very easy if you are not careful. Luckily I was aware of this so was able to prevent damage to the device. It functions well to effectively upgrade the aesthetic of your ceiling and ceiling light or fan. The size is accurate according to listing and will fit appropriately sized openings. The white color is bright but easy to smudge. Can be painted for versatility and to make it a little bit more durable. Easy to mount and install using a variety of adhesives of your choice. Decent quality and beautiful design. The price is good so it's overall a good value for the money as long as you are careful with the product during installation.

Overall, I’m pretty happy with this ceiling medallion. It looks just as pictured & is made of a good & rigid heavier foam type of material. There’s some texture going on that actually kind of mimics irregularities that would be found in the traditional plaster medallions in older homes. Ever so slight pitting & flaws, that may or may not have been intentional by the manufacturer. For my needs, it’s perfect for my imperfect century home. It may not suit you if you’re looking for an absolutely pristine finish.Also, this is primed & ready to paint. Unlike some other medallions made of different materials than this, you’re going to want to paint this. The primed base is mostly clean white, but there are small areas with faint marking & such, making them suited for painting but not quite for just installing unpainted.The measurements listed are a hair generous, too. Not by a lot, but if exact measurements matter to you & your use of this, please know that this is 12-3/8” OD, not 12-1/2” OD. Similar discrepancies for inner diameter & thickness.I’m still giving this a 4-star rating, because it really is suited for my application of it & the price is currently right at $16. Had my needs been different, I’d have been more critical, rating-wise, for the reasons mentioned above. Made in China.
