If you've ever dealt with a wooden gate that drags on the ground or refuses to latch, I think that you will find that this anti-sag kit has been pretty much a lifesaver for me. What really sets it apart is the one-piece pre-welded hinge brackets—since there are no loose joints or pivot-point wobble, you get a rock-solid foundation right out of the box. In the past for me, I've found it difficult to keep everything square and matching up with the other parts of a fence or wall. This kit helped me assemble and finish my gate, get every thing squared away and ready to go. I really like the powder-coated finish on the parts and how they weather, through UV rays, and freeze-thaw cycles without rusting out, while the triangular 90° corner brackets keep the entire frame from twisting. It handles wood sizes 2"x4" and up (supporting up to 120 lbs). Plus, it works for both left- and right-hand 180° swings. It is easy to install, I was done in a very short time and it comes with all the powder coated hardware that has survived many strong weather fronts that have come thru our area all summer long. I have found that it's a straightforward, rugged solution that takes the frustration out of gate maintenance and saves you a ton of time in your projects construction.

I haven't built a wooden fence gate in years and had no.idea these kits existed. I have now done a full doubke leaf gate and will be doing a second set shortly. Kit was well packed and had everything g needed, but I substituted coated 3" screws instead of the included black screws as they were undersized to hold the weight needed.Instructions were rather poor and limited. No real order of assembly described but there actually is as sone screw holes are hidden by adjacent wood frames so take note as you go. Assembly on a fkat surface as a frame only, then add some temporary diagonal pieces of wood to hold things square until the gates are mounted to posts. Add your facing pickets after the gates are mounted. No need to handle heavy weights.Using a scrap of 2x4 attached to the post just under the bottom hinge will make installing thrm.much easier as a temporary support. Wood cribbing at the open end until level will make the install an one person job.Photo shows the gate looking uneven, but that is deliberate as I found the ground sloped left to right and I had to adjust the gate halves at different heights. Once the facing boards are in place, none of that will be seen and the top line will be cut even and level.

I used this on a new wooden fence gate I built but it can also be used to fix a gate that is sagging. I can see how the corner braces would help with that, but I mainly wanted the extra support on a new gate. It has corner braces for each corner of the gate door so it would help square it up as well. The corner brackets do a good job of keeping the gate square and supporting the corners. The kit also includes the latch and the self-closing hardware, which is nice because you don't have to buy all of those pieces separately. It has every piece of hardware you need for a new gate build.I did use my own longer exterior screws for the hinge supports since those are holding the weight of the gate. I used the screws that came with it for the corner supports and they worked fine. The originals would probably work fine but I wanted to be sure. One thing to pay attention to is the design of your gate. I have a decorative lip/arch on mine that comes up higher than the horizontal gate beam. The hinge brackets have a lip that attaches to the side of the beam, so the arch can get in the way depending on how the gate is built. I installed mine to open forward and had no problem with it, but I'd check this before ordering because alot of gates have decorative or functional pieces that may keep you from installing in certain orientations. It's been installed outside for about a month now and I haven't seen any rust or corrosion. The latch works perfectly.Overall I'm happy with it. It feels like good quality hardware and it gave me everything I needed for the gate in one kit!!

Product is an A+. High quality and very easy installation with basic knowledge. Would recommend buying a box of longer screws, 2.5 - 3 inch, because screws provided were small. I prefer a more solid hold for a quality product and project like this restoration. The fact it was a 2 pack was great to restore both my gates and now they might outlast my fence to be honest. Great buy for price point and quality.

The concept is good, especially if you’re installing a gate for the first time, but putting everything together can get confusing. The instructions need to be clearer about where each part goes, especially the hinges. They attach to the L-brackets in an unusual way, so you’ll probably need to play around with the positioning before tightening everything down.I also wouldn’t rely on the included screws for a large outdoor gate. They may be fine for a smaller gate, but I used 2.5-inch exterior-grade screws for better strength and weather resistance. If you’ve installed the older-style gate hardware before, I’d honestly stick with that—it’s simpler and easier to install. Good idea, but the instructions and installation design could use some improvement.

I ordered this so that we could use it on our hobby farm as we have goats and keep them pinned in, figured we could update our gate so it didn't sag. It is a very stylish gate kit that I could see easily being used for a lot of different types of gates, you'll just need to add your own lumber to use. It seems to be very durable steel with a black powdered coating. It comes with a full range of screws attaches quickly and easily to the counter points. Overall it's very easy to use and install. It seems to be durable and will prevent a gate from sagging, even if it weighs a little bit. The price of this kit seems to be comparable to others of the same quality so I feel it is a good value for the money.

We have a pretty basic wood "picket fence" which was built by a couple local guys - and it has been fine. Not very hard use -or very frequent use - ummm... until a small and adorable little girl discovered that she LOVES to stand on the gate...This SMALL girl showed us how wimpy our gate's set of hardware really is.Comparing our hardware to this - BASICALLY THE same STYLE of of hardware - but - I'm thinking TWICE as heavy duty as our current set? This set is just VERY MUCH better, sturdier, heavier weight, more reinforced... As SOON as we have a little free time to do the replacement (which might take a little while for a less then very handy human DOING the replacing!) I anticipate it will be a JOYFUL DAY!Having the latch parts line up correctly again - will be totally worth the price of the parts - for the FIRST time it lines up again - ALONE!If we're too slow to get on that project - might call one of those local guys back to have them do it ... let them see the quality parts IN PERSON - AND the ... state of the old ones too. This set might become their new go to!

I recently built several large wooden vehicle gates for a fencing project, so I ended up buying three different gate hardware kits to compare: this one, another kit from Amazon, and one from Lowe's.Ironically, the Lowe's kit was the most expensive and the least impressive of the three. This kit and the other Amazon kit were extremely similar in both design and quality, and both felt noticeably more robust than the big-box store option. This kit has no chips or poorly applied paint, looks very professional. Installation is just lining things up and popping some screws through (I used my own screws instead of the included Philips head screws for the latch - I try to keep everything to torx 25).The corner braces are sturdy, the anti-sag hardware works well, and the latch assembly is one of the better parts of the kit. I especially liked the self-locking latch with the pass-through release. It feels solid, operates smoothly, and is a nice feature if you're opening the gate from either side. The only components I didn't use were the included hinges with welded on outer corner brackets attached to them. I'd describe the hinges as medium-duty. They're perfectly adequate for a normal pedestrian fence gate, but they weren't nearly heavy enough for my application. My gates are oversized vehicle gates, so I replaced them with extremely heavy-duty self-closing hinges instead. That isn't really a criticism of the kit so much as a reminder to match the hardware to the job. Most homeowners building a standard fence gate will probably find the included hinges perfectly acceptable.Overall, I think this is a good-quality gate hardware kit. The braces and latch are well made, the hardware feels substantially better than comparable kits I've found at Lowe's, and the price is competitive. If you're building a typical wooden fence gate, I think you'll be very happy with it. If you're building a massive vehicle gate like I was, plan on upgrading the hinges, but the rest of the kit is definitely worth using.
