For the installation, I secured the channels directly to the framing and ran the drywall right over the stickout tabs. Couple reasons; it acts as a heat sink, allowing the strip to operate cooler, extending its life; it diffuses the LED dots, making for smoother light; and it also protects the strip from damage.This one is the 13mm wide, LED strips are generally 8mm, 10mm, or 12mm wide with 10mm most commonly used, especially for the standard white strips, 12mm is more typically found in your RGB strips. You will want to check your actual strip to ensure this will work. You can use a narrower strip in this wider channel.This one is a plaster in place, so unless you are handy at doing drywall finishing, plan on hiring a professional to complete the install.Recommended buy

I have tinkered with LED strips for years. Now, the technology has improved and most importantly accessories which I wish they had years ago are now being made available.Let's talk about this style. This is a plaster in, yes I'm talking about the art of plastering with material is a recessed LED aluminum channel It comes in a six pack and each piece is 3.3 ft. The main function is it's an LED strip diffuser so you don't see the little round LEDs and it has a Milky white type of insert into the channel which does the actual diffusion.I personally by 12 mm LED strips and this manufacturer recommends no more than 13 mm.When I'm talking about recess channel I'm talking about you have to have some kind of routered channel that this drops right into So that it becomes flat with your surface and you will need to plaster over material to cover up this hardware. This is for walls most likely and most popularly.Recessed LED tracks is a cleaner look on a wall but if you don't have plastering skills you might be trading one problem for another.I didn't get these to breach a drywall type of wall. I want to use these to build custom lighting doing some additional build-out with wood creating my recessed track.If you have no intention of altering your walls or your cabinetry or building any DIY thing, you just want a LED diffuser track then this is not the one you want. You want a flat track that is not recessed.What makes this a brilliant product is it's a specialty LED diffuser track and if you can understand the value of this recess channel you'll be as excited as I am.I don't have a negative thing to say about it. The color of my track is white, which I will be spray painting.

These recessed LED channels take your LED light installs to the next level. When installed correctly you don't notice them at all, unless the sun catches the diffuser.A laser level is mandatory for marking the install lines for these. Any variance will immediately be visible the instant you power on the lights in the dark.I was looking for options to finish off my office upgrade/remodel, and these fit the bill perfectly. I used to have my LEDs in channels that were mounted on top of the drywall, and they looked "fine". Once these arrived, I spent an hour with a laser level and spirit level making sure every line I was cutting in the sheetrock was perfectly straight and flat. Once you have the channel cut in, these are pretty easy to install. They have a mesh border the you fill in and blend with mud and tape, sand and prime. You will want to vacuum out the channel after this so your lights don't get dusty. Comes with the diffuser, so you don't have to source that like with some other LED channels.
