NM B Wire with Ground

This is 14 AWG 2 conductor plus ground wiring. The insulation is marked Indoor, 14AWG with 14AWG ground for up to 600V. There is no certification marking listed on the wire. I like being able to buy this wire here. It is great value and works perfectly for my AC lighting needs. The insulation material is exactly like all other wire I've used a little difficult to get off but not that difficult. The conductors are insulated with black and white colors and a bare ground wire, they are truly 14AWG copper wire I measured at 0.064". This wire comes in a nice spool, and is undoubtedly durable and easy to use. The length was exactly as advertised, the footage is marked each foot, mine was from 03460 ft to 03480 ft or 20 ft. This wire is compatible for anywhere NM-B wire is required. No problem rating this 5 stars.

This is pretty standard wire. Single strand copper with ground and is good for short runs on the interior as it is only a 20ft "sample". This can be used for moving an outlet or a ceiling fixture slightly but one thing that is concerning about this is that yellow coating on the wire. This is 14 AWG which is rated for 15 Amps. Typically a yellow wire is rated for 20AMPS when found in the US. Because of this coloring it can lead to bad expectations and possibly a wrong breaker value (too high) which then leads to overheating and then of course your house burns down. I don't know if it is a code violation on the coloring and you would have to check your local codes to understand if it makes a difference. Otherwise, this is nice and flexible and the sheathing is pliable for easy stripping and forming. Short of the color concern I think this is a pretty good short run wire.

NM-B (Non-Metallic, Type-B) cable is the standard for indoor residential circuit wiring. This is the 14/2 version, meaning two 14awg conductors (hot, neutral) plus ground (bare wire). For those used to using electrical cable, this is not confusing: for NM, UF and other cables, the bare ground wire is not counted in the awg/# naming convention.This cable can be used for any indoor wiring project that originates in a 15 amp, single-pole breaker at the service panel. Typical applications in residential settings are for lighting and light appliance (outlet) circuits. It is VERY important that the maximum amperage on the circuit wherein this cable is used is 15A: DO NOT use it as part of a circuit that has a 20A or higher breaker as this risks current overdraw and cabling failure that could lead to short circuits, fire etc.This product is 20ft of cable and costs about $36, which is fair market value, neither high priced nor low priced. The cable jacket is smooth and the cable itself is relatively flexible, as expected for 14/2 cable with solid copper conductors. It is easy to run and strip, and seems to be very well made.Cable of this type is really a commodity product, but this is a good example, and should be completely adequate for most any indoor residential application for which the 14/2 configuration is code compliant.

Despite the odd packaging , basically packed in a plastic bag, the cable is decent quality. It is actually a copper cable not the copper coated aluminum that you find most places. The cable gauge and design meets typical USA residential installation standards. The construction is also what you expect in USA residential wiring. No funky paper or fiberglass insulation. A standard flat style versus rounded cable. Overall what you’d expect from this type of cable, which is NOT usually the case with most wiring cables I’ve been getting from this part of the world over the past few years. Pleasantly surprised with this product. Fair price for a standard copper wire.

This is high-quality 14-2 cable (three 14ga conductors are for ground, neutral, and hot). Specs say that this is type NMB, though the typical cable of that type is sheathed, bundled wire (Romex). This one has a PVC jacket that is molded on, instead of an exterior tube only. The wires are claimed to be nylon jacketed, rated up to 600V (as printed on the cable sheathing, I didn’t yet see text on the wires printed yet).As a cable, the molded PVC jacket does seem to allow it to flex and move a little bit more freely in the flat plane as all the wires and the cable move in unison; while being somewhat stiff, it can be pushed forward in addition to being pulled. The molded jacket makes the whole cable a little bit more tough compared to a single thickness tube of plastic. When preparing wires for connection, it is a little bit harder to tear through the thicker and textured PVC jacket, which has its own pluses and minuses, depending on personal preference.Lastly, one thing I appreciate is the foot marker on the outer sheath, so you can estimate cut lengths simply by subtracting two length numbers from each other.

The yellow outer jacket has clear printed markings, including “14/2 WITH GROUND,” “NM-B,” and the voltage rating, which makes the cable easy to identify during installation. Inside are two insulated conductors—a black hot wire and a white neutral wire—along with a bare copper ground wire. The copper looks clean and consistent, with no obvious impurities.The 20-foot length is a practical size for smaller projects.
