Not flame retardent check your building code for your town

I was pleasantly surprised by the significant improvement in my attic after using these versatile 2-in-1 baffles. They are designed to fit rafter bays of both 14 inches and 22.5 inches, allowing for easy adjustment by simply rotating the panel to match different sizes. These baffles enhance year-round comfort by featuring a 2-inch exclusive ventilation channel that effectively directs air from the eaves, promoting optimal air circulation. This design helps to minimize heat buildup and prevents moisture accumulation in the attic. Made from durable corrugated plastic, they prevent insulation from blocking air pathways, keeping eave air inlets clear and ensuring that vents remain clean and functional over time. Constructed from high-strength polypropylene, these attic vents are resistant to tearing, pressure, and heat, providing reliable ventilation for your home. While they are well-made and a bit pricey, it's important to note that they are not flame-resistant, which is a requirement in some areas. I like the concept behind these attic baffles, and after looking them over, the design appears well thought out. The fold patterns and dimensions make sense for common rafter and joist spacing, and I appreciate that they can accommodate multiple framing configurations. The built-in air channel is a smart feature that helps maintain proper airflow from the soffit into the attic after insulation is installed.The material itself is lightweight and easy to work with, and the baffles seem like they will do exactly what they're intended to do. Installation looks straightforward, whether you're upgrading attic insulation or working on a new project.My biggest issue is the value proposition. While these are functional and reasonably well designed, it takes a lot of baffles to complete an entire house. Once you start calculating how many are needed for a full attic, the cost adds up quickly. At the end of the day, it's still corrugated plastic, and I had a hard time justifying the price for the amount required to cover a typical home.That's really my only complaint. The product itself is good, the dimensions are sensible, and it should work well for maintaining attic ventilation. If the price were a little lower, this would easily be a 5-star item for me.Overall, these are effective attic baffles with a practical design, but the cost keeps me from giving a perfect rating.

Super simple solution to keep attic air flow clear

I added a layer of 6” rolled insulation to my attic. I immediately noticed that this was going to block the air flow from my soffit vents. I thought about making something to hold the insulation down in front of where the vents are. Then I found this simple product. I simply folded the sides to match my rafter spacing and stapled them in place. This instantly provided air flow by keeping the insulation away from the roof decking. I had thought about making something like this out of cardboard, but this corrugated plastic is much better. It is sturdier and more heat resistant. What a great idea!

Well let me start by saying that if you don't know how these baffles work. The pictures will completely confuse. In nearly every picture they are being installed backwards or the vent isn't lining up with the channels. So the 2 ways you can use this are to fold the flanges, put them toward the plywood and find some way to fix them, like with glue or something or flanged bends facing outwards (toward the room) and staple them at fixed depth.. so that you leave a channel behind . DO want the channel to lineup with your LOWER AND UPPER VENTING (UNLIKE any of the useage pictures for the item! ) The airspace being created should connect the lower and upper vents. - do not fill them with insulation or place this product against the plywood. The person & ai making the pictures do not understand the concept of a vented roof assembly. So do not take your cues from these pictures πŸ‘Œ. These are made of a cloroplast type material ( think real estate signs that go on the wire stakes in the yard ) they are light weight and easy to manage and if there is variation in your width between rafters they can be bent to get maximum coverage. Adjusting the area where they bend is not easy AGAINST the channels , however, altering the wider side width is much easier as it follows the chloroplasts natural channelsπŸ‘ . In fact it's so easy on the wider section that any adjustment for smaller END rafters are easy as pie. The folding ends are 2" inches each side). For planning the linear feet short it's good practice to subtract of 4 inches from length to be an overlap area. They should be overlapped , sealed / taped with the lower ones on top facing the room .. start high and work downward.. a lot of people will say do it the opposite way but it's really hard to overlap correctly if you're stapling from bottom up. The reason for the shingling toward the room side as you go downward is that so any condensation running down the slope will be hitting another shingle on the way down rather than entering a seam. Overall I like these they offer full channel venting.. which has been proven to dry the roof assembly more completely than center channels - although those are very easy to use despite any width variance without alteration, they really only vent the part underneath each. Insulation pulled back years later from the roof assembly around those has proven to be wet and moldy in some areas. Vented vs non vented is quite the debate really πŸ˜… all sorts of calculations of venting sq inches to size of the channels, zones and in our very humid area it doesn't make sense to me ., but , when I did this in the desert it worked flawlessly with no worry of condensation πŸ˜…. Here in relentless humidity. I WOUND UP doing foam board filled rafters in our prebuilt shed - no vents were really possible as there are no soffits (yet there was a ridge vent installed & two very high round vents on either end πŸ€” The metal roof itself creates a sort of partial external venting between the metal and the roof paper. But much of that heat seemed to be entering the building πŸ€” if you ask me. I want to. Maximize heat rising out of the peak, but not create a full attic .. So I am using these to build a sort of mini attic across the upper peak. The small round vents will meet up with this mini attic as the "draw". Is this wise? They say not to use a ridge vent with dormer vents but I believe that pertains to if you actually have the soffit vents which I do not. So this is a bit experimental. I will be insulating over room side .. installing battens and flat finished ceiling as well. I guess time will tell.. but after much research THIS is what i came up with! So far things in the ceiling RAFTER foam seem to be doing well. After one year I pulled one entire channel down to check for moisture being trapped and it looked clear of any trouble so far so moving forward with the rest of the plan ;) (I do condition this space when im in here currently but not full time) -This is the last step before I can condition this space full time. These are very easy to use. Concider cost vs length + work needed. I have to say these were some of the easiest I've used it. I did leave a small attic access point so I can check how it's doing up there periodically. My main advice would be make sure that vented assembly is a good choice for your area and climate.. Many costly mistakes have been made in terms of roof assemblies even by the pros! I am generally FOR assemblies that breathe and the vented roof helps move heat for sure. I've seen mixed news on that in humid areas tho .. read up on hot and cold roof assemblies if your DIYing it . I would definitely recommend these . I enjoyed working with them very much. They are waterproof and slick . Again I'd suggest planning linear feet of smaller cavties altering the wide dimensions.. short side for length - no hand braking required . Saves a ton of time .. easy to get nice crisp corners....
