NM B Wire with Ground

This 8/ 2 wire has been perfect for our home remodeling. My husband and electrician and he needed some of this. I didn’t want us to have to go to since it’s a little far for our house. I was able to get the same day and had a much better price. It worked exactly for what we needed, and I hadn’t have any issues at all. It’s great wire thick and durable and it lasted good amount. The length is great for most basic uses.

Quality-wise, this cable seems good. Pure copper wire, smooth sheath. It's stranded, making it easy enough to handle. I like that it's available in short lengths because it can be hard to find this gauge sold by the foot in some areas. There are a couple of things I'd change, it would be the sheath color and the ground wire gauge. Orange is typically used for 10 AWG cables. 8 AWG cable is usually done in black. The ground wire is only 10 gauge. Realistically, that is almost always going to be sufficient, but it's better to have the ground wire of the same size as the hot and neutral -- and inspectors in some areas will be looking for that. Make sure you check local requirements before using this -- or look for something with a bigger ground wire to be on the safe side in any situation.

I ordered this to rewire the hot water heater in an old house that still had aluminum wiring, and this cable was absolutely perfect for the job! 🏠💧The wire is nice and thick, and was pure copper. I ordered the 10 foot length, and after stretching it out (The best I could muster), I measured it at exactly 9’ 11”. 📏 It was just a hair shy of the listing, but close enough for my needs since I only needed about 8.5 feet to get back to the breaker and route it in the panel anyway.Inside the orange sheathing, it features two insulated 8 gauge wires (made up of multiple thin copper strands in each wire) along with a non-insulated bare ground wire right in the middle. ⚡ It is incredibly well-made—honestly, this is probably one of the most premium indoor power cables I've laid my hands on. 🏆If your electrical application calls for 8/2 wire, I see absolutely no reason why this wouldn't meet or even exceed your expectations. Overall, this is a fantastic, high quality cable, and I would definitely buy it again for future wiring projects! 🛠️

This is a very well constructed 8ga copper wire with a 10ga ground wire and thick insulation. I will add the plug and receptacle myself and use it for my heavier draw tools which can be damaged when using with the standard 14 and 16 gauge extension cords. This has the ground wire as well. This will be a bit stiff as 8ga is a heavy wire, but that's good. Definitely well made and will be used quite often. The 10 ft length is perfect and this is available in other lengths as well. Just as good as what you find at the big box stores and maybe even better than some. A good value.

I received the ten foot (10') roll of 8 NM-B wire. This solid copper roll of wire seems just as good as any electrical wire for sale at the big box stores. The ground wire is a single solid strand but the "hot" and "neutral'' wires are seven strand wires. I tried to photograph this but it was difficult to get a close-up picture.NM-B wire means "Non-Metallic fully-sheathed" wire and is the standard for electrical wiring in the USA. It is often referred to as "Romex" but that is technically a proprietary brand name. Kind of like asking for "Kleenex" when you want a tissue to blow your nose. Nevertheless, most would know what you are talking about with either name.In the world of electrical wiring the smaller the number, the bigger the wire. In other words, 16 gauge (AWG) wire is much thinner than 8 gauge (AWG) wire. Generally, for household wiring nowadays you use 14 AWG wire for 15 amp circuits and 12 AWG wire for 20 amp circuits. To hook up an electric water heater in your home you would normally use 10 AWG wire. NM-B is often color-coded to make it easier to identify. 14 AWG wire is yellow, 12 AWG wire is white, and 10 AWG wire is orange. 8 AWG wire is usually black but there's no law that says it can't be another color.You can always use thicker wire than "required" but using thinner wire than dictated by Code is dangerous and against Code! For example, in my older home all my 15 amp circuits are wired with 12 AWG. Even though current Code only requires 14 AWG it isn't hurting anything to have 12 AWG. The Code used to require 12 AWG but they changed the Code. So if you wanted to use this 8 AWG product to wire up your water heater you'd be fine even though Code only requires 10 AWG.It goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway! If you don't understand everything I've written above regarding electrical wire you probably shouldn't be attempting to wire up anything in your home. Hire a professional instead. If you do know all this stuff then you'll find this product is just as good as any other wire and a good value for your project.

It provides an affordable, convenient option for home projects requiring heavy-duty wire.

I can confirm that the unit I received was pure copper. Very heavy and scratch and cut tests confirmed its not aluminum coated with copper. The individual leads are thick strands. Everything about this product is heavy duty. The outer sheath is probably some of the thickest I've ever encountered. No thread inside to split the sheath open likely because the cover is so thick. 2 conducts and 1 ground located inside. You'll need real tools to work with this wire as it is designed to be high power and high conductivity. I did not perform burn tests on it. I can say though this is probably one of the most premium indoor power cables I've seen. If your application calls for 8/2 I see no reason why this would not meet or exceed your application. Overall quality cable and would buy again.

This non-metallic sheathed cable is used for indoor residential and light commercial wiring. AKA "Romex" although that is just a brand name.If you're a professional electrician, you probably buy your wire in spools of hundreds or thousands of feet.But, if you are a DIYer like me, these lengths don't make sense, and the hardware stores charge an arm and a leg for cuts of larger spools.This wire comes pre-cut in convenient lengths from 10ft to 100ft, so you can buy exactly what you need.Moreover, even for comparable lengths, it is significantly cheaper than my local hardware store, and copper is not cheap so the difference is substantial.This wire is pure copper, which is the best option. I wouldn't recommend the cheaper alternatives of copper-clad aluminum (CCA) unless you know exactly what you're doing and make sure it never meets any moisture.The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that for some reason, they chose a color that doesn't comply with the current code, which states that a 8/2 wire should be black and not orange. The latter is reserved for 10/2 wires.Functionally, it doesn't make any difference, and maybe that's why they sell it cheaper. But, if you need your project to pass inspection, the color may be an issue, depending on how strict your county is.Other than that, it's an excellent cable at a very good price which makes it an exceptional value for money.It earns my warm recommendation, and a solid 4 (and a half) star rating.
