These mesh sanding discs work exactly the way I hoped. They fit my orbital sander perfectly, and it’s nice not being limited to the rectangular pole‑sander sheets I’ve always used. I’m into various arts and crafts. A lot of what I do involves wood. This is a huge variety pack of sanding discs. There are several grits ranging from 80, 100, 180, 240, 320. The Velcro sticks well on a sander , but can also be used on a sanding block or just by hand. This sandpaper holds up to extended use and doesn’t clog easily. It’s a great deal too for such a large pack of 50 pieces.

These have really durable grit, and surprisingly good dust clearance. My only complaint is that long before the grit wears out the hook and loop stuff that keeps them in place give up. The back of the disc gets fuzzy and the discs cut loose. I went through several grits recently and was astonished how consistently they all gave up after the same amount of area. I'm fairly conscientious about not applying to much pressure on the sander, so if I'm doing something wrong I don't know what it is. The discs still felt sharp, so I continued to use them for hand sanding (though you have to be careful to sand in the right direction if you don't want to sand stripes in). Also to their credit, the sawdust was drawn through them very effectively - astonishingly little dust for my DeWalt RO sander, even when just using the passive dust trap. Overall they seemed high enough quality that I wonder if it's the velcro on the sander that's losing its mojo? Also, some of my sanding was on maple, not drywall That why I gave them the benefit of the doubt with 4*s. The pic below shows what the backing looked like when it gave up being usefully attached to the sander - a fair amount of loose fuzz, compared to a fresh disc.

These are very long lasting, and they do a satisfying job sanding softwoods. I’ve used them occasionally on maple too, and I was happy with the results.Besides the mesh discs, you’re also provided with a pad saver - which is just a thin interface pad meant to protect your ROS mounting pad. These are so thin that you’ll wind up damaging your sander if you try to sand sharp edges or corners too much, so the interface pad is an absolute must. You also run the risk of melting the hook and loop structure of your ROS pad, since these are open-faced and transfer friction heat very well. So use the interface pad. You won’t regret it.Mesh discs are the ultimate open face disc, making it great for softwoods. They’re good for large, flat surfaces, but be careful around edges. Once the disc starts to fray, you’ve got a spinning weed whacker.I’ve used several grits routinely over the past few weeks and I have no complaints. As long as you’re careful and don’t get too close to vertical surfaces, you’ll probably be just as happy with the durability of these pads. It’s a great value too, since these are normally quite expensive.I highly recommend them.

This review is for a 50 piece assortment of five inch diameter hook and loop mesh sanding discs for random orbit sanders branded as dunescrape being sold by CHUANGXINGLIAN. This assortment consists of 10 pieces each of 80, 120, 180, 240, and 320 grit.These mesh discs greatly increase the effectiveness of sawdust pickup compared to regular solid back 8 hole discs when connected to a sander with reasonably good dust collection system. This makes your working environment cleaner, and also prevents clogging of the sandpaper as is common with solid backed discs. Less clogging also means less heat buildup which helps prevent adhesive breakdown resulting in loss of abrasive. Bottom line: these mesh disks increase sawdust collection and last longer than other types.I found these discs to be medium quality and durability compared to other mesh discs. There are other mesh discs on the market with better mesh, adhesives and abrasives that will outlast these, but cost considerably more money. The hook and loop fasteners on these discs work well. Whenever using mesh discs, be sure to use an interface pad to preserve the hook and loop surface on your sander. This kit of 50 discs included one interface disc. I strongly prefer mesh discs for use in my woodworking shop. At a cost of about $17.00, these discs are a reasonably good deal.These disks are listed as "drywall sander sandpaper", but I do not intend to use them that way. While mesh sandpaper is definitely the way to go for drywall sanding, I think most consumer market random orbital sanders are not an appropriate choice. They generally run too fast and spray too much drywall dust into the air even if they have a good dust port and can be connected to a good dust collection system. If you're going to use these discs on a consumer grade sander, which I do not recommend, use a variable speed sander with a large, effective dust collection port. Connect it to a water trap dust separator and a strong wet/dry shop vac. Without a water separator, drywall dust will quickly overwhelm almost any shop vac filter. Also use a respirator! For finishing drywall, I believe the best approach is to apply mud carefully and sparingly to minimize sanding needs.

These mesh sanding discs are super versatile and they keep the dust way down. These mesh disks allow spackling dust to quickly and easily get sucked into the shopvac attached to my sander. The mesh sanding discs are also much more durable and last longer than standard sandpaper discs - making them well worth the price!These are a great replacement for standard sandpaper discs that only have 6+/- holes for the dust to pass through. The dust on those traditional discs collects on the abrasive sheet quickly - and you have to knock the dust off (which goes on the floor or into the air and not into the shopvac). You also end up replacing them frequently, requiring more sheets, since they become ineffective quickly - not to mention the time taken away from sanding and the mess you make during changes.I vary the grit level depending upon how aggressively I need to smooth out the mud coat, and since dust doesn't collect on these, the results are much smoother than I get with standard sandpaper disks.If you value a shortened sanding and clean-up time, use the mesh. I've got 25+ sheetrock panels that I'm currently mudding and sanding. I don't want to see the seams when I'm done, so I'm using these mesh discs!

I've become a fan of these mesh sanding discs after testing them on both walnut and cured epoxy resin.The mesh construction is very different from traditional sandpaper. Instead of dust collecting in a few punched holes, the entire disc is open mesh. During testing, the disc stayed surprisingly clean and continued cutting well without loading up.Most of my testing was done with the 80-grit discs. I used a single disc for roughly 20 minutes of sanding on walnut and epoxy resin, including flattening a high spot, cleaning up a rough cut end, and smoothing larger flat surfaces. By the end of the session the disc was still cutting and showed plenty of abrasive remaining.The epoxy test impressed me the most. Resin often gums up sandpaper quickly, but these mesh discs stayed usable and did not clog nearly as easily as conventional sanding discs.I also initially overlooked the included interface pad. After using the set, I realized it appears to be a hook-and-loop pad saver that mounts between the sander and the sanding disc, which is a nice addition.I did not test every grit, but the grits included in the kit are tactilely different and cover a useful range from material removal through finishing work. Based on my experience with the 80-grit discs, I would happily use these again for woodworking and epoxy projects.

I'm a graduate degree'd engineer with a great appreciation for well designed tools, the owner of a handyman business who uses his tools daily to earn a living and an amateur woodworker. With that as background ...I ordered the variety pack of these Dunescrape-branded sanding net disks. They appear to be identical to other net sanding disks I've ordered on Amazon that were sold under other branding. This variety pack includes a useful selection of grits that appear to be correctly labeled for their grit. Any mesh sanding product is better in most every way than traditional sandpaper. Mesh abrasives are easier to mount on your sander since there aren't any holes to line up, they aid dust collection and don't load up with dust as quickly, so they're more durable and produce a more consistent sanding performance in use. The gold standard of mesh sanding products is 3M Cubitron and this is clearly inferior to that in terms of durability. But, this product costs far less per disk, making it a good value for better than decent performing sanding disks. The kit also comes with a hook'n loop interface pad that protects the hook on the face of your sander from getting clogged with dust -- a very useful addition to this kit.Overall I give this variety pack of sanding disks 3 stars for function and 5 for cost, so a composite 4 stars.
