As someone fairly new to furniture refinishing, I had only ever used the standard style sanding discs before trying these mesh pads. I used them recently while prepping cedar posts for a shade structure project, and I was genuinely surprised at how effective these thin breathable pads were. They cut through material much more aggressively than I expected and did a good job keeping dust from building up.I liked how they easily attached and held their grip. I also liked how lightweight they are and for some unknown reason I really like the idea of mesh over standard cardboard type material. It feels lighter weight somehow.The quality seemed a little ambiguous though. Some pads held up pretty well while others seemed to lose effectiveness sooner than I anticipated. The pad I used to initially sand the cedar posts was very effective but the second one wore down moderately quickly. I definitely got some useful life out of it, but probably not as much as I would have hoped.That said, I still liked working with them and can see why people prefer mesh-style sanding discs. I’d probably buy them again if the price was good or they were on sale, but I wouldn’t necessarily go out of my way to seek these exact ones out. I’d say the same about most sandpaper I’ve used though.
