I hung this pendant light in my living room and it's been a nice addition, the little routing clips for the cord kept everything looking clean and prevented that messy trailing wire look you get with a lot of plug in fixtures.The shade itself looks more polished than I expected for the price. It's seamless all the way around, so there's no visible line or seam breaking up the surface, which gives it a smooth, rounded look rather than something pieced together. The imitation silk material also has a nice texture to it, soft looking without feeling flimsy, and it diffuses the light evenly so you don't get harsh spots or a glaring bulb shining through.The size ends up being a nice in between, big enough to actually make a statement in the room, but not so large that it feels overwhelming for a smaller space. The long cord is a big plus too, since it gives a lot of flexibility for where you can actually plug it in versus where you want the light to hang, and the included swag hooks made it simple to route the cord along the ceiling to the outlet without it looking like an afterthought.Since it takes a standard bulb, you have a lot of freedom to pick your own brightness and color temperature depending on the mood you're going for, which is nice since it's not locked into one specific bulb type.Installation overall was easy, no special tools or wiring needed, just hanging the hooks and plugging it in. This hanging lantern is absolutely stunning, as you can see from the pictures. And I was impressed by how easy it was too install, taking only a few minutes. It conveniently came with a bright LED lightbulb that helped take care of a gap in ceiling lighting in our kitchen. The instructions were also helpful, and all the parts needed to install it were provided. You will need a drill if you use the white guides provided, though I instead installed small wall hooks to guide the cord against the wall to an outlet.I note that the price is higher than other hanging cordless lamps, which is the only reason I gave it 4 stars. I otherwise love it. But having recently bought another brand (that shall remain nameless), I can attest to the high quality of this lamp. The cord is sturdy, the cloth is firm and silk like, and I trust that it will last for many years. Whereas other hanging lamps seem pretty fragile and easy to break, and I worry about potential fire hazards for cheaply made equipment.Pro tip: I recommend installing this with a wireless wall mounted light switch, which you can buy on Amazon.com. It allows you to turn on the light from a wall within 100 feet, thus giving you the convenience of both using the provided light switch and turning this lamp on and off from another part of the room, like any overhead light.
