Perfect. Just what you need - no more, no less.It is super lightweight. I actually thought the box was empty at first. But, the metal is strong. It is almost flat, which means it packs well.If you're into LEAVE NO TRACE, then this is what you need. I have two other shovels/trowels and this is by far the smallest and lightest one. There are pros & cons to each style. But, if you are carrying this on your person, versus having it in your car or RV, then small & light is the way to go.It has a serrated edge to break up tough or compacted dirt or snow. That's why I said it has exactly what you need, that's it.I recommend.

Ultra light trowel that is pretty sharp teeth to dig a hole. Conway zone pouch it has a serrated edge to enable you to scrape a weight surfaces that may be difficult to dig. The tip has a unique shape that I believe helps to dig and remove dirt faster. The handle portion has a thin rubberized surface that makes it more comfortable for the hand to hold so far taking hard dirt has been effective and the tip stays sharp with no dents definitely very portable due to this thin profile and super light weight in I would say maybe 3 to 5 ounces. Great if you’re doing hiking in the remote area that may require you to dig to bury your human waste. Quality is definitely excellent. After I dig a hole, the shovel shows no visible damage. The material is definitely not aluminum because it would have suffered some damages after I dig so this metal material is strong and light.

I know this is marketed as a backpacking and camping tool, but I was excited about it for a slightly different reason. This thing is so light it’s almost hard to believe it is metal! This trowel is made of titanium with a thin rubberized coating on the handle. I am keeping this trowel in my trucks emergency kit. Before I put it there, I tested it. I cannot unequivocally confirm the trowel is titanium. However, it is very light like titanium and is very sturdy. I tried unsuccessfully to bend it with my hands and jammed it into the ground and step on it to loosen a rock. It didn’t bend at all and the rock popped out. This also came with a nylon sheath, it fits it nicely and makes it easier to store when it is dirty. This seems like a nice tool to keeep in my emergency/survival bag

This super-light trowel will definitely come in handy while backpacking or camping. It's fairly short, so you don't get a lot of leverage, but that's the tradeoff for such a lightweight tool. When you need something compact and easy to carry, this does the trick. A handy addition to any backpacking kit.

I got this very lightweight aluminum backpacking trowel to add to the backpacking and camping gear. I have another that is lighter, but this one has the added benefit of the grippy, anti-slip handle that probably adds a little weight, but that also won't slip out of your hand as easily and is more comfortable to hold tightly because it doesn't have a raw edge that hurts your hand.It seems to be durable, as is the grippy material, and tough. The other one I have has a little shorter handle and, as advertised, this one provides better leverage when digging. The notched end of it and serrated side of it allow for better digging or sawing if things are super compact and difficult.I like that it comes with a storage pouch that has a securable drawstring. This allows for it to go into a pack without cutting your pack or the other things around the trowel. The pouch is also very lightweight, too.Very happy overall! I would get this one again.

This is a small but effective trowel. It is much better than a stick. It isn't going to dig through roots or dig out rocks. Well, it can dig small rocks. It does one job and does it effectively. It digs cat holes while camping and especially for backpacking. According to my digital scale it weighs 39.8 grams by itself and when combined with the pouch they are a total of 44.6 grams. It is aluminum, but thick enough to give it strength. The handle is long and wide enough to be easy to grip. It is coated in a rubber type material that adds grip. The bag is a tough fabric that looks like some type of ripstop material. My only negative is minor, but the bag is just barely wider than the trowel. We all want to save weight on the trail, but an extra gram or two for a wider bag would make it much easier to get the trowel put away. This would be especially helpful if the trowel is dirty.

The longer handle design gives better leverage than stubby trowels without feeling bulky.The sharp point and serrated edges cut through roots, hard soil, and even light vegetation surprisingly well. It made quick work of 6--8 inch catholes in varied terrain.The handle cover provides a secure, non slip hold and protects your hand from the metal edge during use. Much more comfortable than bare aluminum handles.Feels sturdy enough for real trail use without bending easily. The black anodized finish looks clean and resists corrosion.Comes with a convenient storage pouch that clips easily to the outside of a pack or inside a pocket. The multitool design includes useful edges for other small tasks.In very rocky or compacted soil it takes a bit more effort (as expected with any ultralight trowel), and I'd recommend gloves for extended digging. The serrated edges are helpful but not as aggressive as some heavier models. Overall, it strikes a great balance for backpackers who prioritize weight.This trowel has quickly become a permanent part of my "leave no trace" kit. Lightweight, functional, and well-thought-out with the grip cover and pouch. Perfect for thru-hikers, weekend campers, or anyone serious about responsible outdoor ethics.Highly recommend - great value and performs above its weight class. Would buy again!
