It is baffling to me why such well-made, heavy duty hardware like these would include such small inappropriate screws. These latch pins would be perfect if heftier screws were included. For latches that are intended to be used outdoors on things like “exterior doors and sheds”, these screws are totally substandard.The pins themselves are great. They are strong, work flawlessly, can be held in the open position, and come with a spring that works smoothly every time you use them. Since I just for these, I cannot speak to how they will hold up outdoors in the weather, but from the painted surface and the quality of the construction, I have no reason to doubt that these will last a long time.Overall, these are really good and useful spring latch pins. For me the screws are not that much of an issue as I have lots of other size screws that I will be using instead of the ones that were included. I’ll save those screws for a project that needs small none load bearing screws. The latches themselves, are great.

These latches work great! The spring is strong and they keep your door secure. I used them for a chicken coop door and they are just what I needed. I purchased this 2-pack of Spring-Loaded Latch Pins to replace 20-year-old spring-loaded latch pins on the stationary door of our double-door shed. The old ones were a slightly different style and were extremely difficult to lock or unlock. Their springs were no longer flexible.Installation was quick and easy. We installed these latch pins vertically to lock the stationary door at the top and bottom. We did not use the included mounting screws because they were too small and flimsy. We used robust screws we had on hand.This hardware feels heavy-duty and well-made. The bolt slides smoothly into place to lock. After years of struggling with the old spring-loaded latch pins, it feels amazing to lock and unlock this door with ease.I have given these spring-loaded latch pins a 4-star rating for their ease of operation. If they came with robust, black-headed mounting screws to match the spring latch (instead of flimsy, silver-headed screws), they would earn a 5-star rating. If needed, I would purchase them again.
