Making network cables is kind of a pain, there's just no getting around it. But this really nice crimp tool set makes it as easy as possible, with an easy and effective cable sheath stripper, then it's strand trimmer to cut them all even, and of course the actual plug crimper itself, which works great.To test this I took an old network cable I accidentally cut in half years ago with some garden shears while trimming a tree. I always wanted to restore the cable back to functionality, but didn't have the necessary crimper. I don't actually need it for anything now, but I wanted to fix it anyways. So I used this set to strip back about two inches of sheathing with the gray stripper, and that was easy, I just had to adjust the dial some towards the "+" mark so the razor would bite down a little bit more, then insert cable and give it one twist and the insulation popped off cleanly. Then I carefully arranged the strands as per the included diagram and cross checked them against the other plug still on this cable, to make sure they're the same. With that carefully in hand, I put them into the strand trimmer, which cut them all flush, gently inserted them into a blank crimp plug, double checked they were still all correctly in the right order, disengaged the lock on the crimper so the crimp receptacle opened, popped my plug in there and gave it one firm squeeze, which seated all the strands and cut them flush in one motion. I gave the strands a little gentle tug to confirm they felt strongly seated, and they did, so I put a 9v battery into the line tester to try it out. With one end plugged into the main unit, and the other end plugged into the detachable satellite side, I watched as the lights correctly lit in sequence for both, confirming I got the wire order correct and the crimper made good connections.So this is not a simple process, it's actually kind of delicate and complicated, but none of that is this crimper's fault. The crimper did it's job perfectly and it made the job as simple as possible. Top marks for the crimper, 5 stars.It also includes a really nice case to keep it all organized, and a bunch of plugs and boots. Great value.

This crimping tool set comes with everything you need for building ethernet cables except the cable itself. The build quality of the tools are passable for anything but very heavy duty, professional work. I would expect these to last fine for any home DIY'er. The wire cutters are effective as the actual crimping tools. All the pieces are included such as cable tester, stripper, cutter, the connectors & boots, but also comes with a carrying case that fits everything inside. Everything was easy and straightforward to use and the cables I built had no problems with connectivity. I think this represents a good value for anyone who is building ethernet cables for personal use in their home.
