I measured the drop before final installation, trimmed the visual length to suit the room, and made sure the shade would sit high enough to avoid becoming forehead equipment. The fixture uses an E26 base, which gives plenty of bulb choices for brightness and color temperature. I prefer a warm white LED because it complements the glass and gold finish better than a cooler bulb.The pleated milk glass softens the light nicely and cuts down on the glare you get from a bare exposed bulb. It also spreads the light in a more diffused way, which works well for general dining or kitchen ambiance. The tradeoff is that the opaque glass absorbs some brightness, so anyone expecting a single pendant to light an entire large room may want additional fixtures. US standard junction box in the ceiling. It’s so beautiful, milk white globe type shade. Excellent for a kitchen island situation. This light generates a soft light perfect for dining areas and bedrooms. It has an adjustable hanging chain and can hang up to 68 inches from the ceiling. The E 26 light socket supports, as you probably know, literally thousands of different bulbs. It’s the oldest American light socket, and it’s been used for at least 120 years. You can put a bulb in the light with a maximum of 60 W.60 W of LED light is a great deal of light. If you want to go with the maximum amount of light, you'll definitely want a dimmer switch. The bulb is not included in this package. I would recommend that when you buy the bulb, you also buy a compatible dimmer switch, and get a recommendation from the company you buy these from that they are compatible with one another and will not cause any flicker as you dim the light.As you probably know, a good rule of thumb in analyzing the power of an LED light is that a 9 W LED is equivalent to an old-style 100 W incandescent light. Therefore, 60 W is equal to probably 650 W of incandescent light, which would be a very bright light indeed. Depending upon the placement of this fixture, there may be times you need that much light, but as I always think, there are many times you would not want this much light, particularly if you’re having a glass of wine with your significant other late in the evening around the breakfast table, you might want to dim the light down for a more gentle level.The manufacturer of this product provides excellent instructions; however, I recommend that you, before doing anything, make certain you’ve turned off the power at the junction box you’re going to work on. And in most homes, the circuit breaker control panel box is located in the basement. Locate it and turn off the circuit breaker that controls power to this junction box. Then, with this fixture, which weighs about 8 to 10 pounds, I would first make certain that the ceiling junction box is well secured and can support that kind of weight. If not, I would secure it with additional long wood screws into the ceiling joists and with metal brackets to other joists, if necessary.Another caveat, or one I always like to give, when people decide to do a self-installation, is that you should have an electrical testing device. Whenever I do electrical work, I always carry a device that looks like a red pen, but when you turn it on, a little red light lights up if you bring the tip of the pen near an energized wire. The light starts flashing, and it literally starts chirping like a bird. If I put it near a 240 V dry line, it will chirp twice as fast, and the light will flash twice as fast, warning me of the electrical hazard. This is an important safety tool to have with you when you’re doing electrical work. Most electricians carry something like this spice.The next caviar will give you as many people don’t know how to use wire lock nuts correctly, most fixtures have the wire secured with wire lock nuts, the correct way to secure to wires with a lock wire lock nut in this case the black wire from the house service side, and the black wire from the fixture is to make certain the last half centimeter of insulation has been removed from each of the tips of the wires the tips adjacent to one another, pointing in the same direction and cover them both with a wire lock nut turn the wire lock nut clockwise that’s a firm, mechanical and electrical connection has been established.This is a beautiful fixture; you’ll get many years' view out of it. On one hand, the beauty of whatever room you put it in, and it will be a valuable asset to your home.
