The SAFEBUILDER Type II Hard Hats Full Brim ANSI and CSA Approved Vented Top and Sides-Round Impact Protection Chin Strap with Magnetic Buckle is not your father's hard hat. This hard hat can be adjusted by 2 vertical options and by circumference. The circumference is easily adjusted by a ratcheting knob. Moving buckle slides along the strap is a thing of the past. This hard hat also has a brim which will help protect you from the sun, along with falling debris. While this hard hat is sold on Amazon, it does have 2 safety certifications. I really appreciate that glasses and ear muffs can both be worn while wearing this head protection. Additionally, this hat can be washed with a mild detergent to remove sweat, dirt, dust, and oils. This hard hat is approved for use in a variety of settings. Plus, it is listed at a reasonable price point. I highly recommend this hard hat.(My star rating system: 4 stars met my expectations, 5 stars exceeded my expectations, 3 stars fell short of my expectations, 2 stars significantly fell short of my expectations, 1 star highly suggest not ordering)

I have tried this hard hat out a few times on the job site and it is very vomfortable and cool in the heat. The vents keep the breeze flowing but its not so comfortable that it looks weird and gets the foremans attention. I can definitely recommend this hard hat.

This Type II full-brim hard hat is an excellent choice for anyone who needs dependable head protection on the job. The ANSI and CSA approvals provide confidence in its safety, while the Type II design offers enhanced protection against both top and side impacts. The vented top and side design helps improve airflow, keeping you cooler and more comfortable during long workdays. The full brim adds extra coverage from sun, rain, and falling debris, making it especially useful for outdoor jobs. The adjustable chin strap with its magnetic buckle is easy to secure and keeps the helmet comfortably in place, even when working in demanding conditions. The suspension system is comfortable to wear for extended periods, and the overall construction feels sturdy and built to last. Overall, this is a high-quality hard hat that delivers excellent comfort, reliable protection, and outstanding value.

After spending some time with this hard hat, I came away impressed with both its construction and overall design. If you’re shopping for a Type II helmet, you’re probably looking for the added protection that comes with side-impact testing instead of a traditional Type I hard hat that is primarily designed for impacts from above. It’s nice to see this model carrying both ANSI and CSA certifications, making it suitable for a wide range of professional job sites. The build quality feels excellent. The outer shell is sturdy with a durable matte finish that should hold up well to everyday use without looking worn immediately. Inside, the energy-absorbing foam liner is securely fitted and gives the helmet the more substantial feel you’d expect from a Type II design. It is a little heavier than a basic hard hat, but that’s expected given the additional protective materials. The suspension system is one of the strongest features. There are enough adjustment points to get a secure, comfortable fit, and the rear ratchet allows for precise adjustments without feeling flimsy. Once adjusted, the helmet stays in place well throughout the day instead of constantly needing to be tightened. The sweatband is thick, comfortable, and removable for cleaning, which is a thoughtful touch if you’re wearing it for long shifts in warm weather. The included chin strap is another highlight. Many hard hats require purchasing one separately, so it’s nice that this comes ready to use. The magnetic buckle works surprisingly well—it can be connected or released with one hand, even while wearing gloves, and it feels much easier to use than traditional plastic clips while still remaining secure during movement. The full-brim design provides a little extra coverage from the sun, rain, and falling debris compared to cap-style helmets, making it a good choice for outdoor work. The accessory mounting points are also a nice addition for anyone planning to add hearing protection, face shields, or lighting later. The only small downside I noticed is that while the helmet includes exterior vents, airflow isn’t as noticeable as I initially expected because of the internal impact liner. That’s understandable given the safety design, but it’s worth mentioning if maximum ventilation is your top priority.Overall, this is a well-built Type II hard hat that delivers excellent comfort, thoughtful features, and solid protection at a price that’s hard to beat. If you’re looking to upgrade from a standard hard hat without spending premium-brand money, this is an easy recommendation.

A real-world review of the Safebuilder Type II, Class C, LT.First off, it is incumbent on the buyer to know the difference between the Type and classes of hard hat you’re purchasing. Then again, you’re looking at a hard hat that typically costs 4x or more than the price of the standard hard hat for a reason and likely already know this. Typical hard hats i.e. type I, are designed and tested to absorb impacts from above only whereas type II are omni directional being tested to provide maximum protection from strikes all angles including side impacts. The Class C is for basic construction use with other classes (G- General electrical exposure <2000 volts and E – Electrical for utilities work with exposure up to 20kV) The LT designation refers to being approved for low temperature climates where other plastic hard hats may become brittle. Both types and classes are approved for use in the U.S. (ANSI) and Canada (CSA) with your work specific hazard exposures being the driving factor in which protection is needed. The good, the bad and the ugly:Quality: The outer shell is the standard molded HDPE polyurethane finished in a mat finish. There are multiple removable covers to apply accessories like lights, muffs, and face shields which is nice in that it prevents rainwater intrusion in bad weather. The venting IMO is worthless in its design in that the inner foam core completely blocks the vents so there is effectively no channel for heat to escape. One can modify this with a razor knife, but beware that you’re modifying its design and would most certainly negate any liability protection offered to the user. The suspension is top notch with manual and self-adjusting slots to provide a comfortable fit like the positioning of the rear ratchet assembly that can be slid up or down on the back of the head (usually fixed on most other hats). The ratchet also has a finer adjustment screw than most. The sweat band is thick and absorbent and of better quality than most and is removable, washable and with standard attachment points for future replacement.Straps: The strap assembly is well designed, comfortable and fully adjustable and comes with the hat as some other manufactures require a separate purchase. The magnetic slide keyway buckle is innovative and far better than the traditional blade connectors as it won’t pinch the skin and is easily disconnected with one hand (even with gloves) while holding secure against unintended release.Inner shell: The inner poly molded shell is basically dense Styrofoam and is what provides the type II rating. It’s one piece, mated and locked into place with the outer shell using plastic tabs.Performance: The hat is inherently heavier than standard hard hats but weighs a respectable 22oz compared with the comparable Milwaukee being 3oz lighter but costing twice the price. As mentioned earlier there is a variety of add on accessories made by the manufacturer that are all positively rated and I believe is standard fitment with other brands as well.Overall: No major issues, defects or dislikes I could report other than the blocked vents. Otherwise, it’s a solid hard hat that meets spec as described and excellent price point compared with similar Type II hard hats; I’m confidently adding it to my field kit.

It's built extremely well and it will definitely protect your head. However, for me this hardhat is a bit to big looking on my head. I'm 5'8" and 170lbs and this looks like a safari hat on me... I think it better suited for larger men with big heads lol.. the internal ratchet system fit well and iglf the outer shell was smaller I'd give 5 stars.. besides the size issue it is reasonably priced and worth the buy if you're a bigger person...

Upgrading to a Type II hard hat is necessary for real side-impact coverage beyond standard top-only shells, and this SAFEBUILDER full-brim model executes the safety requirements exceptionally well. The shell construction feels dense, rigid, and well-molded, providing true 360-degree protection against lateral impact and falling debris. Fits well. The full brim offers solid coverage against sun and rain without obstructing vertical sightlines. Venting across the top and sides allows heat to escape effectively during long shifts in hot environments. The ratchet suspension system adjusts cleanly to lock in a secure fit around the crown without creating isolated pressure points. The standout utility feature is the chin strap assembly. Utilizing a magnetic buckle makes securing and releasing the strap effortless, even while wearing heavy work gloves. The strap retains the hat firmly during overhead work or sudden movement. It is a well-engineered, site-compliant piece of protective gear built for serious daily wear.

This is an extremely durable and well-constructed hard hat that should come in handy for a variety of jobs. It is CSA verified, which is an essential feature for any hard hat, and that gave me extra confidence in it right away.I also like that it is designed to fit a wide range of head sizes and can be adjusted for a secure fit. The full brim is another big plus because it adds an extra layer of protection. I especially appreciate the vent in the hat, since that should help a lot when working in hot summer conditions. This looks like a great hard hat for general construction, general labor, and other situations where protection matters. It is always important to make sure the hard hat you choose has the specific certifications required for your job, but as a starter hard hat, this seems like an excellent choice.Overall, I’m giving this 5 stars because protection is essential in any job, and this hard hat is clearly built for that.
