I bought these for securing tarps and and they work great for that. Both ends have a clip and go through the tarp eyelets easily. A little pull on the free end and tension is applied to the rope between the clips. An easy-to-use release on the ratchet body frees the rope and allows removal of the clips.This could be used on any items that need some quick tension on the line. It could be used on tents, clotheslines, or virtually any application that needs securing using a taut rope. I'm happy with this purchase and may be back for a few more.

I was so excited to try these tie-down straps because I've been asking my husband to take our kayaks to the river, and thanks to these, my wish has finally come true! The design is really innovative. Being able to hook one end to the kayak and the other to the truck made securing everything so much easier than the straps we've used in the past. We used both straps, but not both on one kayak. Since we were transporting the kayaks in the bed of a pickup truck, I used these to securely tie down one end of the kayak while the other end just needed to be held in place without using the clips. The ropes are tightly woven with virtually no stretch, which is exactly what you want for a secure tie-down. The ratchet mechanism is also very impressive, it cinches down tightly, and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get it to slip or back off once it was locked into place. My only concern is that the larger hook is made of plastic. It seems sturdy enough, but I'd personally feel even more confident if it were metal since I definitely wouldn't want a clip breaking while hauling a kayak. The smaller hook is rubber-coated metal, and I had no concerns about that one at all. Overall, I'm really digging these straps. They give me confidence that my kayaks are securely fastened and aren't going anywhere while we're on the road, and they've made loading up for a day on the river much easier.

Release button should make locking and releasing smooth, one hand ought to be enough to tighten once hooks clip to the anchor points. Nylon rope looks dense, hoping it holds up without fraying over time in usage. Safety clips on the hooks should keep them from popping loose, and the zinc alloy ratchet housing feels like it'll be sturdier than the flimsy stamped metal on cheaper straps.I didn’t order for this for label usage but I believe it will work well for most any light to medium duty usage. I like having different types of straps available.My con is it is the ratcheting hook is basically plastic which I wouldn’t trust as much as a metal hook, just my opinion

I bet I can surprise you with my intent for these ratcheting straps. They won’t be used to tie anything down. As the mom of a swimmer, I’m planning on giving them to my son to take to his dorm so that he and his roommate can hang up their towels and briefs between practices. If I don’t come up with an easy way for them to dry their stuff, that room is going to become a mildew nightmare!With a clip at either end, the boys can attach the rope to items in their room (probably their lofted beds. The little button in the larger clips makes it really easy to adjust the length needed. Once they figure out where they are going to hang the lines, they can set it and forget it. They’ll just have to attach the clips to their beds and be good to go.The lines can hold an impressive amount of weight. The 1/8” clip can hold 75 lbs. and the 1/4” clip can handle up to 150 lbs., both limits well above the weight of a couple of wet towels.This set of ratcheting straps would be great for many uses: camping, fishing, moving day, etc. What’s great is they can be stored in their plastic bag when not in use. My only question is if my son and his roomie are actually going to use them.
