I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this disconnect. It’s very heavy duty, meaning heavy. It’s weatherproof so can be used indoors or outdoors. There’s knockouts on three sides: two on bottom, one on each side. The knockouts are concentric circles from 1/2” to 2”. The lugs are very sturdy. It comes with four masonry drop in anchors for block or concrete walls. It came with a lock for the enclosure. It’s NEMA rated. My only concern is there’s no UL rating listed on the enclosure or in the paperwork. If you’re using this for a commercial or industrial installation it may not meet the specs.

I installed this 100 amp disconnect switch for an outdoor electrical project where I wanted a simple, clearly labeled way to isolate power before servicing the equipment.The enclosure feels sturdy and substantial, and the galvanized steel construction gives it a much more durable feel than lightweight electrical boxes I have used before. The coating also looks well suited for outdoor exposure.The ON/OFF handle is easy to operate and gives a positive, mechanical feel when switching positions. I like that the labels are clear and that the handle does not feel loose or flimsy.The interior layout provides enough room to route heavier wiring without everything feeling cramped. The grounding terminal is also conveniently positioned, and the pre-punched conduit openings made planning the wire entry easier.Because this is a non-fused disconnect, I used it strictly as the local means of disconnect while keeping the circuit protection handled elsewhere in the system. That setup worked well for my application.The cover opens easily for access, but once closed the enclosure feels secure and well protected from normal outdoor conditions. This switch kit was thoughtfully organized, there is a padlock included to secure the panel door if you opt to rotate the lock loop into service, there are expansion lugs to attach it to a masonry surface if you want to, there is a large insulated handle that you can screw on to the switch arm, and there are two arc shrouds that you can clip on to the switch arms. The sheet metal parts are well painted inside and outside. Athough it is wet are rated, the penetrations are setup as regular knockouts so you will need to plan on using a myers-type fitting if installing in a wet area. Some of the adhesive labels are not well affixed. The functional consideration is that the make/break speed of the switch is whatever the operator can provide, there is no spring-assisted snap action. If you move slowly, and the circuit is under load, you may draw an arc. Now, there are arrestors provided to help quench the arc, but the mating surfaces of the switch are not designed for high heat and a few arc cycles will risk degrading them. Used without load or minimal load, it is a cost effective way to get an air-gap isolation to a down-line device for safe servicing. However, for anything done under load, some careful thought needs to go into throwing the switch as fast and definitively as possible. The detents in the metal brace for the switch arm can interfere with fast switch throwing and need to be accounted for. Otherwise, this is a nicely made switch with a chassis mounted dual lead grounding block and for the rated voltage, ample condcutor separation for the hot legs. As best as I could see, there was no UL mark on the housing, which depending on whether you need to get an inspection for installation, may be a consideration, even though the build quality overall is good and solid.

The part took its sweet time. Solar jobs stall when one piece is missing. This was the missing piece. So I stared at the mailbox like a dog waiting for its person.Today it showed up. The 100 Amp Disconnect Switch. Two pole. Non-fused. A serious little box with a serious little job.First thing I did was inspect it. That is the rule. You never trust a box until you check the box.Let me talk about the moving parts. The handle throws clean. On. Off. On. Off. Smooth every time. It moves like it should move. That matters on a disconnect. When you throw it off, you want the circuit dead. Not maybe dead. Fully dead. This one commits.Now the parts that should not move. They do not move. The body is tight. The terminals sit firm. Nothing wiggles. Nothing rattles. A loose lug on a live 100 amp circuit is a very bad day. This box has no interest in giving me a bad day. I respect that.Let me talk metal. The housing feels sturdy. Real gauge. Not the flimsy kind that dents if you look at it wrong. The lugs look ready to grip fat cable. You run 100 amps through thin wire and things get warm. Warm becomes hot. Hot becomes a story you tell the fire marshal. This box looks built to hold real conductors without drama.Everything was in the box. Every piece. No missing screw. No mystery gap where a part should be. I have opened boxes that came half empty. Then you wait again. More mailbox staring. Not this time. This one arrived complete.Let me talk value. Fair price for a solid safety switch. A disconnect is not glamorous. Nobody brags about their disconnect at parties. But it is the thing that lets you shut power off fast and safe. That is worth a fair price and then some.One honest note. It is non-fused. So it disconnects, it does not protect against overcurrent. That is a design choice, not a flaw. Plan your overcurrent protection somewhere else in the system. Match it to your install. Then this box does exactly its one job, and does it well.

High Capacity Breaker BoxHigh Capacity Breaker Box

This is a heavy duty breaker box. At 100 amps, it can handle a ton of watts and high current. If you have an extensive outdoor lighting project as in you wired up a full patio and stadium lights on your back yard, this is the type of box you’d want. This could handle the stadium lights on a small baseball field and maybe more.Practical applications:I’m using this to hardwire my EV charger to my house at the 220V junction and want a separate control box for the car charger. Our parking area is not that simple to reach. Most EV chargers use a dryer plugin. We can’t do that but I can wire the EV charger off the house with the proper equipment and this junction box is the proper equipment for that. Most practical application I can think of is for hardwiring an EV charger or replacing the breaker box at a high school’s small football stadium or lights at a warehouse. The list is nearly endless. The capacity on this is so high you can do any smaller project ( we’re not lighting Wrigley Field with this box) you can think of. I worked as an electrician for a while as a young man and I can vouch for the construction on this. The model I received is exceptionally well made and put together well. Only con is that it does take a little muscle to flip the breaker on this but you don’t want one that flips down easy. It has to have a certain amount of resistance and this one is made for decades of use so the handle is a little stiff right now.
