Hole Saw Set and Large&Small Mandrel

I’m usually very brand loyal to Milwaukee Tools, but lately I’ve noticed a dip in the quality of some of their drill bits and attachments. That’s especially disappointing considering the premium price. I stumbled across these and figured, “Why not give them a shot?”I’m glad I did. For me, these have performed every bit as well as Milwaukee or Diablo, and I actually noticed less breakout and splintering when cutting through OSB. I also really like the spring and removal-slot design. It makes getting the cut-out material out of the bit much quicker and easier.At this price, I’m going to stick with these for a while. Even if they don’t last quite as long as the premium brands, I can buy a couple of these for about the same money. So far, the performance, clean cuts, and easy chip removal make these an excellent value.

This is a very high quality hole saw. The arbor is extremely easy to connect and use. The saw is very versatile for what materials you can cut. I've cut through aluminum multiple layers and plywood with no issues. It's sharp and cuts very well even through the aluminum. Little bit of cutting fluid keeps it from snagging cutting aluminum. Half a dozen holes already cut with it and it's still sharo and ready for more. Extremely good price. I've paid more for just a hole saw with no arbor.

I think the best part part is the arbor. It's a pull/and push to lock the hole saw rather than a screw one one which locks up many times. The drill bit is a typical allen wrench lock screw which sometimes loosens up and pulls out the drill bit. I don't think that the hole saw will last for many uses but I believe it's in line with the price for getting 2. The first cut was through 1/4 plywood. It worked but we had to clean off some edges. Hard to see in the photo, but where the weld is, the metal sticks out. It catches and I think makes the going a little bit harder. Overall, I think you get what you pay for. You can easily pay double for just 1, here you get 2 for under $30.

I was helping a friend install can lights, when this item became available through the Amazon Vine Program. The timing couldn’t have been better, so I ordered a set for review.What you get:2 x 6” Bi-metal Hole Saw1 x Heavy Duty Mandrel (11mm arbor)1 x Pilot Drill Bit, 0.25”1 x Slug Spring1 x hex Wrench, 4mmI didn’t know what to expect from this brand, but was pleasantly surprised by the quality and performance. First, it’s bi-metal and razor sharp out of the box. The mandrel is heavy duty and comes with the pilot drill, a slug spring, and a hex wrench. A 6” hole saw has some weight to it, so I was astonish at how perfectly balanced the saw was at speed. This means both the saw and the mandrel are precision parts. It requires a driver with enough muscle, but it cuts through drywall easily. It made perfect 6” can light holes. The only downside is it creates a fair amount of dust. You get 2 saws in the package for a price of a single saw from a major brand, so a good bit of value. This saw exceeded my expectations in every way. I was not expecting much when I ordered this hole saw set but I was genuinely surprised once I started to use it. The materials these are made out of feel very robust and sharp. The holes I cut with them felt just as clean as any Milwaukee or Diable hole saw I've ever used. To be clear they don't last a very long time, but I've never found a hole saw from any brand that can withstand the heat and abuse that these things are put through, so I'd rather just buy a slightly more affordable one than spend 3 or 4 times the price on the expensive name brand ones. The quick change arbor is fairly well designed and I didn't find the hole saws getting fused with the arbor like I do with a lot of cheaper hole saw kits. It's definitely not as effective as say a diablo snap lock but it gets the job done. The spring is a bit of a gimmick but it does help a bit with ejecting the cookies. I appreciate that you can change the drill bit fairly easily with the included hex key, makes it a lot more versatile.I needed these to drill some holes in the wall for a mini split install and these 4" hole saws worked fantastic for that purpose. I'm probably never going to use them again after that, so I don't need them to last forever. These were very sharp out of the box, maybe they dulled faster than the name brands but they were more than sharp enough to drill my final hole. These are just good enough to get the job done and very affordable, it's really hard to beat the value you get in these.

I've needed a 6" hole saw to fill out my "a hole saw for every occasion" collection for a while. So I figured I would try these out.Overall I'm pretty happy with them. They are heavier than I expected, which definitely isn't a complaint. They eat through material quickly, and they stay sharp like I'd expect from a decent tier tool.The mandrel and pilot is pretty good. It's a 3/8" arbor, which is larger than the usual 1/4" you get on some. I personally prefer the 3/8". The spring is a little meh just because it gets caught up sometimes if you fuss with it. Doesn't negatively affect cutting performance, though.If you are trying to use a large hole saw like this, keep in mind that you need to go slower. The speed of the teeth (the things doing the cutting) increases proportionally with the diameter of the hole saw. The teeth on the outer edge move faster as you increase with size. For example, for any given RPM, the teeth on a 6" hole saw will be moving at 3 times the speed as a 2" hole saw, even though the entire hole saw is moving the same RPM for either size.In other words, the larger you go up in diameter, the lower RPMs you need to use because you don't want the teeth spinning at lightspeed.One thing about these... they viciously grip into the material. So be careful if using a hand drill. It can torque right out of your hands if you're not careful and possibly injure you in the process. If using a drill press, make sure your material is clamped down tightly.I used these to make a 6" hole for a ~140mm fan that I need to attach to a quick-and-dirty inverter box. They worked just fine through OSB for that.Heads up, these are actual 6" hole saws, which is 152.4mm. They are NOT the 150mm like some brands sell (despite calling it a 6"). That 2.4mm difference can be important depending on your application.
