I ordered this up to replace a lesser outlet that came in a RV power pedestal, primarily because I am using it to charge my EV, and the outlet it came with is fairly low spec, so I doubt it will last.This outlet looks to be a good middle ground between the heavy duty 14-50 outlets that are designed for repeated plugging and unplugging, and the big box store options that are not really intended for EV use, especially the low grade ones.I compared this outlet to a standard commercial grade pass & Seymour/legrande outlet I had been using trouble free for EV charging for 4 years. Physically, the construction of this outlet and size are very similar, with the major exception being the hex drive terminals, that are torqued to a much higher 75 in lbs. This is what you want to see, as the number one cause for outlet failure is loose connections.Construction wise, this outlet is still the same diameter as a regular outlet, not oversized like the heavy duty ones. As long as you leave your charger plugged in most of the time, this outlet will be just fine. The other major cause of outlet failure is wear and oxidation on the plug contacts themselves.Being the same diameter as a normal outlet means this is an easy upgrade, no need to find a new cover plate, or drill out the hole on your existing box.The only curious thing with this outlet is it comes with wire ferrules. First, they appear to be 8 AWG, so not big enough anyway. But more importantly, the u shaped box terminals on this outlet should ONLY be used with bare stranded wire. Using a ferrule can both prevent getting sufficient wire to terminal contact, and also result in the terminals being undertorqued. The outlet has a legitimate UL listing number, which means it is rated with bare wire, no ferrules.Overall, this outlet appears good quality, and is about as inexpensive of an option you'll find with true 75 in lbs hex style terminals, but still with a normal diameter face making for an easy swap.

I have been successfully charging my EV for years using a regular 1450 outlet, but I dont unplug it often and I check it yearly for signs of heat and for lug tightness. That is the difference these EV rated outlets seem to have. They provide better clamping onto the wires to resist the effects of heating and they are supposed to be better at grabbing the plugs blades when repeatedly plugged and unplugged. I dont see much difference otherwise. This piece does feel more substantial than the cheap outlets from the box store.

The nylon housing feels sturdy, the brass contacts are substantial, and installation was straightforward. It also includes wire ferrules, mounting screws, and an Allen wrench, which is a nice touch.I installed it using the recommended copper wire size and all terminal connections tightened securely.My only recommendation to other buyers is to verify that the receptacle carries a recognized safety certification (such as UL or ETL) before using it for continuous high-current EV charging. Level 2 EV chargers can draw 32–40 amps for many hours at a time, which is much more demanding than occasional RV or dryer use.If you're looking for an economical 14-50 receptacle and install it correctly, this seems like a good value. For daily EV charging, I'd periodically check the plug and outlet for any signs of heat buildup during the first few charging sessions.
