Very secure way to hang heavy objects on the wall. I needed to secure a sound panel and this worked perfectly and holds it with a minimal air gap. None of the holes lined up with a stud, but with the included drywall anchors, it's still able to hold it securely.I do have two complaints, that, if fixed, would bump it up to 5 stars. First, there's no stops for horizontal movement. So if someone bumps into my sound panel, it will still return to level, but it could slide sideways on the mount and, if bumped hard enough, slide off the mount entirely. Second, the included level was very cheap and was not accurate compared to my 2' level.Other than those two minor complaints, it's a great system and I wouldn't hesitate to get more if I need to hang more heavy items on the wall.

I love the physics of a French cleat for hanging heavy mirrors. A French cleat isn’t “holding” the mirror; it’s redirecting the load. The weight travels downward into the wall, not outward and the angled interface converts gravity into compression. LED lighted bathroom mirror, and it performed exactly the way a cleat should: simple geometry doing the heavy lifting, hardware staying invisible, and the mirror locking into place with zero wobble.The aluminum is lightweight but rigid, and the interlocking Z‑bar design seats the mirror securely as soon as you drop it onto the wall‑side cleat. I have had a couple of these types of hangers already. Obviously, if I did not like them, why would I use them again? This is a truly capable hanging piece of hardware! They can hold a lot of weight, distributing it over a larger area on the wall so the wall is more capable of withstanding a heavier weight. In my case, I cut these in half and used them on two smaller pictures. I could have used them on larger pictures since they would easily handle the weight of those frames (not being heavy at all).For some higher traffic areas in my classroom, I have used them as well. On occasion, I have had a student bump into a picture and have had it fall. These are able to withstand a greater impact and will even level out afterward - all on their own.The aluminum is great since it will not rust, and the holes are spaced properly to not stress a piece of drywall too much in any one spot. I would like to spend less money, but they really are manufactured very well (others have not latched as perfectly as these), so I accept the cost as being truly appropriate and am pleased to have the superior quality.Lastly, I was a little surprised to see an SDS bit in the package. I was impressed with that!

This is exactly what I was needing. I used it for a 6ft x 3ft mirror that is heavy and solid. This handles it like a champ and is very secure!

I use French cleats to hang anything heavy, but also anything larger and things that might require more than a single nail. I love the French cleat. You install one cleat on the back of your frame and the other to the wall. Because they come with multiple holes in the cleat, they allow you to choose the appropriate holes so you can hit a stud and avoid having to use wall anchors to support the weight instead. You can just use the wall anchors as supplemental stability, not to hold the weight of the actual item. These make installation a snap. Also great? Provided you have used a level on the cleat that goes on the wall and lined up the cleat attached to your item that you're hanging, your picture goes on the wall straight every time AND isn't going to be bumped and made crooked or knocked off the wall unless something really crazy happens.French cleats just work incredibly well for me, with this product being no exception. I needed a smaller one to hang a heavy older mirror, and this 12-inch French cleat does the trick. It's great quality and came with everything necessary to hang the mirror (cleats, wall anchors and screws to attach one cleat to the wall, and small screws to attach the other cleat to the back of the mirror) PLUS it came with an appropriately sized drill bit and the cutest little level I've ever seen come with a package like this.I would definitely get this product again next time and feel the value for the $$$ is good.

This kit makes it very easy to hang large or heavy pictures and other items on the wall. It comes with everything you need, even a little mini-level. At 12 inches wide you should be able to get at least one screw into a stud. For the other screw(s) I'd skip the included drywall hangers for anything heavy. I've never had luck with that style. I prefer toggle bolts, which can hold a LOT more weight. For regular lightweight pictures in frames you could probably get by with just drywall screws and no special hardware at all.The French cleat makes it easy to hang the picture. Just slide it down the wall until the two halves hook together. So much easier than trying to line up individual screws with loops, or to balance the picture just right on a wire or zig-zag hanger. Another perk is that if you use this kit on all your picture frames that you can very easily move them around and swap them out with the seasons. The design of the French cleat gives you some wiggle room to center pictures of different sizes on the same wall location.The one con is that the smallest size is 12 inches. I've cut them down in the past using a reciprocating saw with a metal blade and a vice to hold it still. Not everyone will be comfortable doing this.For large pictures this style of mount is a 5/5 every time.
