Almost perfect could be better, measurement or registration marks would be nice

[Size: 4 Inch, Number of Items: 12]
There are no measurement marks on these that help you line them up if you want to center them between the joists above or off set them and know that you are lining them up well. The screws are useless, just throw them away and use something better. I don't understand why they included such terrible screws, no screws and everyone just use what is appropriate to their situation would have been just fine because these sure can't be used. The side squares are quite big so you have to carefully balance the driver box on top if you are using these like I am to hold some lights up in the basement and don't plan to finish the ceiling yet. They work well for that purpose. These are definitely for new construction, or if all your ceiling joists are open. They won't work at all if your drywall or other finish surfaces are up. So depending on your needs these might just work for you too.

These plates are incredibly easy to use — just position them between the joists, nail or screw them in place (super quick with the pre-drilled holes and alignment notches), secure the junction box, and you’re done for the rough-in stage. No fuss, no measuring headaches. What I loved most was how they simplify everything for the drywall crew. The sturdy metal template creates perfect circular cutouts every time — no jagged edges or wasted time patching mistakes. It saved hours compared to traditional methods, and the extendable hanger bars (on some models) give you flexibility to adjust positioning on the fly.The build quality is solid galvanized steel, and they feel professional-grade yet totally DIY-friendly. Whether you’re a contractor knocking out multiple rooms or a homeowner tackling a remodel, these plates deliver clean, professional results with minimal effort.Highly recommended! Would buy again in a heartbeat.

A great way to make the overall remodeling done faster and more accurately aligned

When you want the precision of well thought up design and construction, start with these recessed lighting housing. It allowed me to focus on getting the position down perfect with a laser level while I was still pre-wall board.one tip - I made a centerline mark in permanent pen so I could easily see where I needed to hit the mark with the laser. So much easier to do on the ground before you get up by the ceiling. Also to note - these mounts are super thin, so sitting them behind the drywall is a breeze. The screws that come with them are pretty big however, so I swapped them out for other ones that were a flatter head. These made the install so much easier - I am happy with the purchase!

Makes lighting install much easier

[Size: 4 Inch, Number of Items: 12]
The mounting plates are a simple but effective tool for installing recessed lights. They make it much easier to achieve proper alignment and consistent placement, helping create a cleaner and more professional finished result. The galvanized steel construction feels sturdy, and the included screws make installation quick and straightforward. The single cutout provides a clean opening without the rough edges found on some adjustable brackets. While they do not include measurement markings and may be slightly more expensive than basic alternatives, they save time and reduce guesswork when installing multiple lights.

These are a solid, no-nonsense mounting plate for downlights. They are definitely "easy mode"—you just position them where you want them and screw them in. They even come with very short but sturdy screws. They do a great job of helping you get perfect alignment with your lighting and they give you a secure place to mount the light.Measuring in at 26" long and 8.25" wide , they feature an absolute abundance of mounting holes, which lets you work almost anywhere along the plate (as you can see in the photos). They come with a single 6 & 3/16" cutout. One thing to keep in mind: at 26" these are significantly wider than a standard span, so if you’re working in a tight corner or a cramped joist bay, you might find yourself needing to trim the bracket to make it fit. Also, unlike some other universal mounting brackets that offer multiple openings or adjustable sliders, these are strictly single-opening but 6" standard is a pretty good setup. These are slightly expensive than the basic mounting plates I can grab at my local big box store, they get cheaper if you purchase larger packs and honestly, the difference in material quality appears to be negligible. If you are doing a large project it probably makes sense to try one for your specific scenario but overall the time saved on alignment and the better quality outcome make them an easy choice for me.

I am reviewing "12 Pack New Construction Mounting Plate, 6 Inch LED Recessed Light Rough-in Plate". I received the 12 pack and they arrived in excellent condition. These are a basic galvanized sheet metal plate that has a hole in the middle for installing a 6 inch LED light (it does not come with LED lights). It has the expected holes and slots that any LED mounting plate should have. It also has marks at the center of the length and width. But it is lacking any other marks to aid in placement. I have used many different mounting plates for LED lights and most of them include measurement marks with either inch or centimeter or both and that can make it much easier to place exactly where you want it. These do not have any measurement marks. If you are only mounting 6 inch LED lights these have the advantage of only having a 6 inch hole that is a very clean hole. A variety of other mounting plates might come with breakouts that allow the hole to be a variety of sizes but that usually leaves rough edges where you breakout the excess metal. This set is specifically only for 6 inch LED lights and for some that could be a real advantage. I installed these using a tape measure and they worked fine for me but many DIYers may prefer something that has the inches marked directly on the metal for simpler installation. For the 12 pack at the time of this review the price does not make these a good value. But I note that the larger 24 and 48 packs are a good value if you are not needing the inch marks. I also want to mention that these do come with a bag of 50 mounting screws and that the edges of the metal plates are clean, without any burs or especially sharp spots.

Makes Recessed Lighting Almost Suspiciously Easy

[Size: 6 Inch, Number of Items: 12]
I used these rough-in plates while adding extra lighting to an unfinished area with exposed floor joists, and they worked out perfectly. Since they’re designed for new construction, exposed ceilings aren’t a problem at all—and if the ceiling ever gets covered or turned into a drop ceiling later, the lights are already properly positioned and ready to go.Installation was incredibly straightforward. Mount the bracket across the joists, run the wire, make a few connections to the existing electrical box, and you’re basically done. Honestly, the hardest part was probably deciding exactly where I wanted the lights. The steel brackets feel sturdy enough to withstand jobsite handling without bending all over the place, and the centered cutout makes positioning wafer lights much cleaner and more accurate than eyeballing everything later. If you’ve ever dealt with crooked recessed lights after drywall goes up, you’ll appreciate how much guesswork these eliminate.I also like how lightweight they are while still feeling solid. They’re easy to work with overhead and don’t interfere with wiring or framing. Whether you’re doing a basement, remodel, garage, workshop, or full new construction project, these save time and make the install look more professional. For anyone installing multiple 6-inch wafer lights, this is one of those simple products that quietly makes the whole project easier. No gimmicks, no overthinking—just mount, wire, and move on with life. Yeah… it really was that simple.
