This is a pretty good kit overall. The magnets are reasonably strong, and the gooseneck arms adjust with no issues — they hold position well without flopping back.It comes with a couple of nice extras: an extra alligator clip and an extra tightening screw. That said, there are no instructions included, so it took me a minute to figure out where the tightening screws actually go. Once I sorted that out, though, the kit itself is pretty simple and intuitive.One nice detail — the teeth on the alligator clips are lined with rubber, which should help protect wires from getting scratched or nicked while soldering.All in all, not a bad kit for the price. Would just recommend Amazon or the seller include a quick instruction sheet for anyone unfamiliar with these.

Sometimes you need an extra pair of hands. Or two pair. And this set of 4 flexible wire holders is just the thing. These are larger sized (maybe even too big) and good for large projects. These aren't the best for fine electronics, in my opinion, but they are good for larger sized circuit boards.This set only comes with the clamps. I used a small metal base for my pictures--that does NOT come with this set. The listing claims it will work on any metal surface but I suggest you use a very sturdy metal surface. These clamps come off easier than I'd like and thin metals or rubberized magnetic sheeting just won't hold them. If these holders aren't balanced well, they will fall over and that gets annoying.Another thing to keep in mind is that the screws don't always hold tightly. When the clamp twists, it can affect how well it stays screwed in place, which loosens things more easily, which affects the balance, etc etc. There's some finesse involved with these holders--and your magnetic base really makes a difference.Other than that, they're useful devices with a few drawbacks. They're currently listed at $16.99, which isn't bad for a 4 pack, especially of this size. Considering the silicone alligator clips and how they make working with heat safer and easier, I'd say this isn't a bad deal.

4-Pack Magnetic Helping Hands, Flexible Wire Holdersmagnets work well with a metal base. the base is not included this is just the arms. the aligator clips have rubber socks on the heads if you need that. the flex shafts are easily adjusted and seem to hold position well. i found the magnets stuck well enough that adjusting the flex shafts did not casue the magnet to detach, so that is good. the aligator clips are not tiny but not big, there like what you get with one of those helping hand jigs but this way is decidedly better. i can see using this with a scope if needed. pretty good.

Just used 2 of the 4 arms to assist soldering automotive electrical wires, and it was fantastic! This is exactly what was needed to hold the wires steady and at the ready for easy access. The magnets are strong and hold well, and the clips are just right to do the job without leaving marks. The package even included an extra (5th) clip, in case of loss or damage. This was a great value, I'm very happy with this item!

I recently got my first soldering iron kit and am looking forward to learning to use it on different projects. This set of flexible wire holders is an excellent addition to my soldering kit. The flexible arms are a very good compromise of being easy to manipulate but strong enough that they stay where you want after positioning them. The arms also are very flexible and can even flex back over themselves if needed. The set comes with 4 flexible arms with a magnetic base. I was worried about the magnets because this is an area that companies like to skimp on. No issues here. The magnets on these flexible arms are definitely strong and up to the task of holding the arms securely to a metal base. The kit comes with 4 arms, 5 alligator clips and 5 securing screws. Setting them up is simple. place the exposed metal end of an alligator clip and then screw one of the securing screws into the provided hole. Tighten to secure the alligator clip in the position you want it. Repeat 4 times and you're done. They provide 1 spare alligator clip and securing screw. That's a nice extra because I can definitely see myself losing a securing screw at some point. I wish they were "captive" screws but I'll just have to be careful. The arms are roughly 14" long and seem to be more than long enough for what I want them for. The magnet base has a nice rubber protective cover and the arms themselves have a coating covering the flexible arms. The tips of the alligator clips also have a coating /protection on them. This set of magnetic "helping hands" flexible wire holders is excellent for people like myself learning to solder or anyone that needs a free hand while working on small fiddly things like painting really small model parts for example.

These magnetic 'helping hands' are a boon for soldering small and lightweight components - I am using them to build small cable bundles, and to solder small PCB modules. The arms position smoothly and without much backlash, and the clips hold firmly. The clips are held by thumbscrews, and hold well for the low levels of tension these are expected to be applying. I appreciate that the set came with an extra thumbscrew and clip. The magnetic base is surprisingly strong - on a metal plate, it isn't budging unless you want it to - it will hold against any load reasonable for the arms. I like the repositionable aspect to these - I use a magnet-friendly steel plate as a working base, and can move the base and arms around for a wide variety of projects. All told, these are very handy, and well worth the money.
