I'm not a welder but somebody who grinds and cuts metal every so often so I do encounter some sparks and this hoodie is more than up to the task for preventing injury in my case and more.I usually wear a large, and the item page suggested a large, so that is the size I went with. Upon trying on the sweatshirt it became apparent that it was sized more as a large for big and tall persons. The sleeves bunched up a lot, leaving excess fabric that could catch some metal sparks or welding splatter, and the bottom of the sweatshirt landed mid-thigh, putting the kangaroo pouch pocket at a spot where it offered no support for resting hands and causing things placed in the pocket to bounce against a delicate area. It'd perfectly fit someone 6'-6'2". The hood is oversized but that could also be due to the possible big and tall sizing. The wrist and waist cuffs sit tight enough to keep out errant sparks but not too tight to be uncomfortable.Regarding the hoodie material, it's soft inside and flexible. The outside has a starchy feel to it that I presume is the flame resistant coating. It's not possible for me to attest if this hoodie's flame resistance matches the rating it's listed as having but I did hit the sample piece of material included with the hoodie with a small butane torch for 10 seconds straight. It didn't catch fire and the ground beneath it wasn't hot to the touch. Whether this means anything in terms of its rating I don't know but it's the only test I could run.I have no idea of pricing of comparable apparel but if I was a metal worker or welder, $90 for this flame resistant hoodie would be a fair price for a good layer of protection as long as you take into account that this seems to be sized big and tall when ordering.

While I'm not a welder or so work with hot metal or flames around me, this hoodie will certainly work for that as described. It's rated to be somewhat fire proof. The material is will woven and I couldn't see any issues with and stitching, fraying, etc. The inside is fleece lined and feels nice and soft. The hood has draw strings that do bring it in tighter if it need it. As for for, if you want it a bit baggy, order a size up, as this is a pretty decent fit. It makes sense, especially if you're using it for it intended purpose, you wouldn't have any larger clothing underneath, maybe a T-shirt. As for value, that depends on whether you need the fireproof capability. If so, they this is a great value. Otherwise it's nice and does the job and I do like it.

Recently got back into welding, and in the non-summer hours it can be pretty chilly in the garage. Protection is paramount in general, but this hoodie was a great addition to my welding PPE. I ordered a 3X and it fit pretty well, maybe a tad smaller than I was expecting, but still definitely wearable and not tight. The fabric is soft and comfortable, but provided great protection from spatter and sparks (definitely not a welding expert) but I'd also use this for working with the angle grinder. The hood comes far enough forward where it'd pair great with a full face mask, not leaving any exposed skin. Very happy with it so far!
